I read the quote above one day and had to share it because my gosh I actually have those boxes of baby clothes in my attic. Honestly, I saved them for when my kids had kids so they could share their baby clothes, but now I only visit those boxes simply because I need to remember. Psst, I think it’s time for them to go to a better home. Now, I understand that cleaning all those cupboards and cabinets can be a daunting task, however, imagine how surprised and free you will feel every time you open any cupboard/cabinet. and see all the available space and how tidy everything is stacked, hung, in boxes and/or stored. I try to only work on at least one cabinet and one cupboard a day. That way I don’t feel overwhelmed.

This leads seamlessly to the second item on the organizing list: pots, pans, brooms, sheets, towels, or boxed items sitting in the back of the closet that you have no idea what’s in them. And let’s not forget the children’s closets. This is where the fun really begins because now we can separate it all into boxes marked to keep, discard and donate. Keep a blank pad of paper near you at all times so you can make your own list of what needs to be replaced or repaired. Last year I discovered there were some mechanical items that needed to be donated like the Roomba we never used and the fish cage for the BBQ and I was able to repurpose old kids t-shirts by collecting enough to make an “Everybody Wants to Save” quilt. Earth, no one wants to help mom wash the dishes.

And so, here we are at the fifth item on our organizing list for February. Article 5 is a fun article and relates to my own restless disposition regarding gardening. Sometime around February 15, and in some places even earlier, certain seedlings can be planted in a starter garden. If you have south-facing windows where sunlight streams in all day, that’s the ideal spot for your starter garden. If you’re like me and go crazy over seedlings, then you know that the indoor starter garden area runs out of usable space. In cases like these, where you just don’t have enough room for all the seedlings you’ll be starting, you can use special light sets that set up neatly and effectively to help those seedlings get the best possible care. The fun part of this project, aside from planting, is going to the store or ordering from a favorite catalog all the lovely flower seeds and food seeds you’d like to see growing in your garden this year. This is a great project for children to help. My kids loved watching their seedlings grow. It’s the next best thing to a pet.

There are SO MANY beautiful and loving stray dogs and cats available for adoption that there is no reason to continue to breed these dogs in large numbers and sell them for unbelievable amounts of money, especially in the conditions in which they live.

I am guilty of this.

I bought a Silky Terrier at a pet store for $900. It was adorable and I fell in love. I honestly didn’t know anything about the windmills or what was behind all this. All I knew was I saw him in a 10 gallon aquarium and he looked at me and that was it. The pet store owner assured me that all of his dogs are USDA certified and that the places where he buys them are inspected and stamped for his approval. I believed this and it is a well known pet store in Kamms Corner, (Cleveland) Later, after doing my own research, I learned something completely different. The papers for my silky had the pinwheel at the top. I searched and found that it is no different than any other mill, =(

I instantly thought of my pup’s family and parents who were still there and the conditions other dogs live in. It’s really too sad. I just wanted to get the word out and let anyone know that you may be in the market for a designer dog or new pet at a pet store, to head to a shelter and adopt or at least look in the paper and buy from a home breeder who cares for his animals. I learned that NO local breeders who care for their animals sell their dogs or cats to pet stores. They give them up for adoption only to people who believe they will take care of the dogs and do not keep them in aquariums. . .Even if the owner of the store promises you and tells you that he buys local or not from oil mills, it is almost impossible. Research where they get their dogs from first before you buy them. I am a REALTOR. Now, while talking to buyers or showing pet-perfect backyards, when they agree (and many new owners will buy a dog), I try to get the word out without being pushy, of course. Simply, “This is a great yard for a dog! Just adopt and don’t buy one from a pet store, mall, or online.” We can all make a difference simply by informing others as much as possible.

PetSmart is a wonderful chain. They don’t sell puppies (which I’m sure would make a mint) and only sell cats and kittens that have been abandoned or strays. Adopting from them is safe, buy their products in the store at least to support animals, not mills.

The movie “Life of Pi” is based on a novel of the same name written by Yann Martell. Although the book and film primarily revolve around characters from India, Martell himself is Canadian. During his childhood and adolescence, Martell lived in Spain, Costa Rica, Mexico, France and Canada. He writes in English, but French is his first language. Other Martell books include “We Ate the Children Last” and “Beatrice and Virgil.”

The story, in both the novel and the film, centers on the life of Piscine Molitor, an Indian boy named after a swimming pool in Paris. Due to his name attracting ridicule from children at school, Piscine takes the nickname Pi. “The Life of Pi” is told in a framed story format, meaning an older Pi is telling the story to a reporter. The story is mostly about how young Pi survived a shipwreck and spent time in a lifeboat with wild animals, including an adult Bengal tiger.

In addition to drawing a lot of attention from moviegoers of all ages, “Life of Pi” also has quite a few interesting tidbits associated with it. The film is directed by Ang Lee, but many other popular directors joined the film at some point in development, including M. Night Shyamalan.

“Life of Pi” also has several fun connections to the Spider-Man movie franchise, including tie-ins to the Tobey Maguire-starring trilogy, as well as “The Amazing Spider-Man” reboot movie. The first link involves Maguire and Andrew Garfield, who played Peter Parker in the most recent film. 9. Shih-tzu.

They are small, compact and fearless (as the name suggests, Shih Tzu = lion). My inner child was excited and I considered buying it for a spoiled second, but the adult in me reminded me that my partner would have killed me!

If you want to train your mouse or rat to run through a maze or obstacle course, teach it one piece of equipment at a time. Give him a treat when he completes it and then add another piece of gear and give him a treat when he completes the second. January or March to early April. One is gifted with seeing these wildflowers from early spring to late fall, in a multitude of colors, sizes, and shapes. New York City is lucky to have these flowers in abundance.
