Irish wolfhounds are noble animals; gentle giants, whose basic nature is that of a typical “couch potato.” They love their comfort as much as you do. They are the perfect “babysitters” for your children and have the patience of a saint. However, owning such a large dog comes with many responsibilities, as well as immense pleasures, as we will soon discover.

First there was the added expense of having to swap out our beloved Mercedes for a large four-wheel-drive pickup, to accommodate the dogs. Then came the sofa repairs, although since there is no more space on the sofa for us, I just cover the torn areas with a blanket and hope for the best. The fence has had to be reinforced, and I have lost count of the number of times my husband has replaced the wire in our screen doors. Our once soft suburban lawn (well it used to be a lawn, not sure what I would call it now), looks decidedly rustic. It actually looks like a horse paddock. As for my carpet and walls, well, let’s not go there, but please don’t be offended if I never invite you to my place.

I love my gentle giants, and what if they almost ruined the garden, the carpet, the walls, the couch, and almost ruined us with food and vet bills, I couldn’t imagine life without them. They have many wonderful qualities that allow me to feel that way. They share all aspects of our lives and they like nothing more than helping “mother” in the home office and “father” in the garden. In fact, our two Irish Wolfhounds have been very hardworking this summer, helping Dad with the yard renovations. I think they are trying to build a pool on one side of the house. It must annoy them when the parent keeps filling it up again. They also play very well with our daughter. In particular, they like to sneak into your room at night and select a toy to play outside. They never destroy toys. I always find them in perfect condition, although a little wet and gross from the experience.

Our initiation into Wolfhound parenting began with the adoption of Wookie, a gray male. (What else did you expect us to call it?) Our daughter was about two years old, so we felt like we had two babies to take care of. Wookie was a true clown, and to describe him as clumsy would be to put it mildly. When Wookie was only six months old, we realized that sharing our little home with him was going to be a challenge. Wookie’s queue could clear a table in one move, and leaving food on the kitchen bench was causing trouble. Unlike other dogs, who can only smell the delicious leftovers in the sink and dream about them, werewolves can see and reach for them.

Shortly after Wookie’s arrival, we find ourselves adopting a “rescue” dog. (Sadly, some people don’t research the requirements of owning one of this breed and then realize that they should have bought the miniature poodle instead.) Measuring approximately 90 cm (almost 35 inches) tall at the shoulder and weighing 78 kilos, it was and is a sight to behold. Wookie fell in love with her immediately, and although Guinny, as we decided to call her, found it a bit complicated at times, she developed a fondness for him and the two became firm friends.

We found that Guinny loves a good cup of coffee. Not the simple black things. She likes hers white with two sugars, and no, of course we don’t give our dog coffee! It is not necessary. She helps herself. I always know it’s been in my coffee from the telltale spills around the mug, or if I miss that (sometimes she cleans up after herself to hide the evidence), I know it’s been there from the strange taste the mug left.

Irish Wolfhounds are warm and loving with a sensitive and gentle nature. I don’t know if I would recommend them as watchdogs, although owners can be sure that if attacked, their Wolfhounds will defend themselves to the death. The size of these animals, combined with their deep, impressive barks, is probably enough to scare off most would-be thieves, but I don’t know if that would work in my home. I can only see it now. There they would be, standing by the fence, each with their favorite toy held firmly in their powerful jaws. My two brave defenders of home and home … “Don’t come here or my little bear will catch you!”

Having an Irish Wolfhound is an honor. Being accepted and loved by someone in return is truly a gift from God. My own furry children are an inexhaustible source of fun and company, and I haven’t even begun to scratch the surface of my experience. (Speaking of scratching … is that a flea?)

This man is not afraid to be called a man of God. This king is not ashamed to trust God and have faith in God, through thick and thin. It is King David.

Psalm 9 – O Lord, I will praise You with all my heart. I will not feel half when I praise you. All my heart will be in what I sing, say and do.

David is going to praise GOD, and he will testify to that and tell the world that His God is the God of miracles and wonders. David is so full of the joy of the Lord, and the joy of the Lord is his strength. There are four powerful activities in these opening words: I will praise, I will say, I will rejoice and rejoice, I will sing.

But Jesus came and rescued people, shed His Blood and died, and rose from the dead defeating the power of evil. And the risen living Jesus gives us power and authority to use His Power.

When Jesus is present, the enemy had to fall, disappear, and perish. When man is freed from the influence of the enemy, he can experience that rest and peace that only our God can give. The enemy comes to upset and oppress and depress – and kill and steal and destroy – and when this is removed, people can experience the Peace of God.

Verse 7 – The Lord reigns forever – His throne endures – an image of security – He is established and will remain unshakeable. The same Lord who was in control of situations in David’s day is still in control of situations today.

David has a vision of God’s future triumph.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday today and forever. Hebrews 13 verse 8. He can heal those who come to Him, help those in trouble, and free people from the oppressive influence of the enemy.

Yes, the Lord Jesus Christ is on His throne, but this verse also teaches us that He is the Lord of judgment and that He will judge the world with justice and equity.

What a comfort for those who belong to Jesus Christ, and what a terrifying thought for people who have not made their peace with God through Jesus.

David’s testimony here is quite comprehensive. He knew what he needed to say.

Verse 9: The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a high place or a lofty fortress, a safe haven for people in times of trouble. Here is a wonderfully reassuring picture of the mercy, love, protection, and concern that our merciful God has for man. People in need can turn to God in times of real need and difficulty, and He will give them real help. He will minister in a profound and practical way.

Some say: God will not come to me, it seems that he always helps other people with their problems, but he will not approach me in my situation.

Oh yes, He will, if only people would ask Him.

Verse 10: We have this tremendous promise. Now, we know His Name – JESUS ​​CHRIST – and we can put our complete trust in Him. We live in a time when it is increasingly difficult to trust people. Many find that people let them down, and David knew it all.

God is faithful. We submit to Him and submit to His ways. What we know and what we do with what we know is important. He never abandons those who seek him.

When Jesus saw the crippled and the lame, or the leper, or the blind, or

tax collectors – Jesus did not turn away, run away, or hide. He came to bless, and people find a blessing and enjoy that blessing.

The more we know God, the more we trust Him. What a verse! What a promise!

What an encouraging word for all of us to accept and enjoy.

No wonder David bursts out in verse 11: Sing praises to the Lord. Share what God has done. We are spiritual messengers. Talk about what Jesus has done for you – sing about it – “Tell, my soul, the greatness of the Lord.”

Here are two priorities: singing praises and talking about what God has done and is doing. Praising and testifying are linked here. Praise and proclaim.

These new songs that we have appreciated have emerged from days of renewal by the Holy Spirit, because the people who were and are touched by the grace, mercy and love of God through the Spirit of Jesus Christ, only want to praise Him.

Verse 12 teaches us that God hears the cry of the afflicted or humble.

Prayer is a refuge or a port for a castaway. Many lives are beaten against the rocks, but few want to enter this port and sail towards this refuge.

This verse is like a ladder that leads us to God.

David mentions his circumstances. You have been released, and deep anguish requires great releases.

Verse 14 teaches us how to respond when God comes and helps us and ministers to us and frees us from everything that has been bothering us.

David praises God publicly. Rejoice when God visits you to save you, comfort you, bless you, help you, and deliver you. That is his word to the people.

Verse 17 talks about people forgetting about GOD.

Forgetting GOD is not a small sin, but a serious one. We see the forgotten GOD there, and in the next verse we see the unforgettable God. The Lord will not forget those in need.

Verse 19 – Arise, O Lord – many have prayed that throughout the centuries.

Because David had confidence, we too can have confidence in Jesus Christ.

Verse 20 – men and men who are miserable, frail, fallen and dying – the nations need to know and remember that. Selah – pause – consider – think.

We continue to pray verse 19 – remembering how Jesus Christ has risen – and poured out the Holy Spirit – and ministered to our various needs – saving people from their sins – healing people from their diseases – freeing people from oppression and depression – and filling them with His Love and Power.

It is no wonder that many want to thank, praise and worship him.

The psalmist has been through a difficult time, and he is declaring what God has done, so that this can help others.

“David – What has God done for you?” “God has taught, educated, trained and molded me to worship him.” God has made David a worshiper.

Worship is not something that is learned, worship is something that arises from an experience of God and with God, that feeling of wonder and wonder.

His whole heart was set on praising God.

and with thanksgiving.

Who is Perry “Fred” Stone, sir? Some would say preacher of the holy roller, others would say healer. For Mr. Stone, the most important title would be Proud Servant of the Most High God. Born on February 11, 1933, to William Henry Stone and Nalvie Dunford Ball in Johnny Cake Hollow, West Virginia, his initial entry into the world faced challenges as after his mother gave birth, the midwife attempted to kidnap him. If Fred’s father hadn’t arrived in time to rescue him, God only knows what his fate would have been. From the beginning, it seems that Satan has tried to disrupt God’s plan for Fred Stone’s life. Yet he has prevailed and used his ministry to honor and glorify the God of Israel.

At sixteen, Fred attended a revival in West Virginia that changed his life. During the service, the preacher, Mildred Collins, asked, “Fred, if you died at midnight tonight, where would you spend eternity? You are lost without God.” The surprising thing is that Mildred did not know Fred and later informed Fred that she never said those words. What is more intriguing is that none of the parishioners heard Mildred say those words to Fred. However, the Holy Spirit condemned his soul that night and Fred went to the altar and gave his life to Jesus Christ.

After his conversion, Fred witnessed spiritual gifts operating throughout the church for other people and went to the altar and prayed to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit. It was not a long and drawn out prayer to the Lord. It was simple. He prayed, “Lord, whatever this is that everyone else has, I’d like to have it too. It seems to me that I need it.” After three days of prayer, God answered his prayers and received the gift of the Holy Spirit.

During Fred’s initial ministry, the Lord moved tremendously. Fred healed countless people: a woman whose face had been eaten away by cancer was healed through prayer and anointing. A man who was born blind in one eye was miraculously healed and gained sight that he never had. As he grew spiritually in the Lord, he met a beautiful singer, Juanita Bava, at a revival. They had four children: Diane, Melanie, Perry Jr, and Phillip.

The Holy Spirit was constantly moving through the churches Fred pastored. Although there are numerous churches in the world, it is important to allow the Holy Spirit to move throughout the church. Some denominations claim that the gift of tongues no longer occurs in the present age. That is simply not true. On one occasion when I was at the altar praying for a man, Fred spoke in tongues and when Fred finished praying, the man said, “You were praying in a perfect Arabic language. You said my name and asked the Lord to fill me with the Holy Spirit. “Fred Stone has never been taught to speak Arabic. As at Pentecost, the Holy Spirit is still using the gifts of tongues to reach unbelievers.

Throughout his life, Fred often mentions how the Holy Spirit has warned him of the trouble ahead. What is so surprising is that sometimes these warnings are given in dreams, visions, or in a clear, audible voice. In 1952, while driving through English, West Virginia, the Lord told Fred to slow down his car because the steering bar was about to fall off; Fred obeyed and minutes later the steering bar fell off while crossing a bridge. In 1968, the Lord gave him a vision about an impending attack on his brother who was serving in the Vietnam War. He quickly wrote to his brother, telling him the details of the vision, which turned out to save his brother’s life because of the vision the Lord gave Fred. In one circumstance, Fred did not heed the Holy Spirit’s warning and he and his family paid a heavy price. In 1960, near Elkin, West Virginia, the Lord tried to warn him three times of an impending accident and Fred ignored the warnings and his family was involved in a near-fatal accident.

Perry “Fred” Stone, Sr. has been on the great commission to spread the Gospel for God since the Lord called him during that revival in West Virginia. You may not be familiar with its name or don’t know who it is, but it is a unique treasure. In reading his life story, there has been a notable common thread: the altar. He constantly went to the altar before God and humbly asked for whatever he needed. By going down the aisle, Fred has led many people to Jesus Christ. Not to mention, his son Perry Stone continues his father’s legacy in spreading the gospel. Apostle, prophet, man of God … any of these titles that Fred Stone could easily claim. However, I have no doubt that the most important title for him is “faithful servant,” an honorable name given to those who deserve it most. After the race is over, I am sure you will hear those words that all Christians long to hear: “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
