Tip: I just set the alarm on my Timex Ironman watch and I can’t turn the damn thing off!

Hope you didn’t set it up too soon.

Haven’t we all had moments like this?

Of course, you had nothing but the best of intentions when you set your Timex IRONMAN watch for 6:30 am. You were determined to run that morning if it killed you!

Of course, the best intentions are all good, but when 6:30 a.m. rolled around, your first reaction was predictable, wasn’t it? … at the time, he wanted nothing better than DESTROY his Timex IRONMAN watch, or at least turn off that damn beep so he could sleep another hour before work!

Ok, so you probably (somehow) managed to turn it off. Or maybe you took the easier route and just covered your ears with your pillow until the damn thing stopped and worked … Briefly, but now the # @ “! EACH tomorrow at 6:30 am like, uh … a clock! Arrrrgggg! Why do those IRONMAN watches have to be so efficient?

While I have heard that a mallet is a common solution to this common problem, don’t despair as I show you a way to deactivate your alarm that does not involve mutilating your watch.

The Timex IRONMAN standard watch looks like the following design:

(I can’t display an image here so check the link in my signature)

Please note: I am trying to keep this information as general as possible, however there are many Timex IRONMAN watch models on the market and this information may not exactly apply to all models out there. I think the ALARM function works similarly on many IRONMAN watches and what I say here will apply in most cases.

Okay, so when the alarm is sounding, just press Start / Split or Stop / Reset to disarm the alarm. To know when your alarm is armed, a clock icon will appear on the face of your Timex watch, when disarmed, the clock will disappear. If the alarm goes off and you make the mistake of waiting for it in the hope that it will go away, five minutes later a back-up alarm will go off for further torture.

So now that the quick fix is out of the way, here’s how to permanently turn off the alarm:

  • press the MODE button until it is in ALARM mode
  • press SET / RECALL to set the alarm
  • Press STOP / RESET (-) or START / SPLIT (+) to cycle through the alarms.
  • When you have selected the alarm you want to erase, press and hold STOP / RESET (-) to erase the selected alarm.

Ahh peace of mind at last!

Oh, and if you were really wondering how to set the alarm, be sure to keep an eye on this on my blog soon.
