Tiger Woods Training Program

Whether you play golf or not, I’m willing to bet you know who Tiger Woods is. He is one of the few people in sport to become a celebrity around the world.

He will become the best golfer in history and some would say that he already is.

There are many things that Tiger can attribute to his golf game and one of them is his exercise regimen.

He is very secretive about almost everything in his life and that includes his exercise program. This has led some to believe that he is doing something illegal, like steroids, to improve his physique and excel on the field.

That’s ridiculous. Tiger is very fit, but he is not a steroid user.

When it comes to fitness, Tiger has changed the game of golf. He has made everyone start paying attention to his fitness when it comes to his golf game. Even Phil Mickelson seems to have started paying a little attention to his waistline.

Not to mention, all young golfers are taking a few steps ahead of the older ones because they have been training for years.

But what is special about Tiger’s exercise program? Is there something special? Do you do some secret training program invented by the Soviets? I’m sure that’s it because the Soviets were always known for their incredible game of golf.

I don’t think it’s a secret at all. You just do what you have to do to be a better golfer. It focuses on exercises that will make you excel in the course. It focuses on strength and mobility.

I can almost guarantee you that you don’t spend hours and hours sitting on the weight machines in your home gym doing machine chest presses or machine pulldowns.

You will most likely focus on whole body movements as well as some “core specific” movements to help you improve your game.

Here are some of my favorites that I use in my own programs and with clients.

1) Lots of push-ups. Focusing on the push-ups will not only work your chest, but also your shoulders, triceps (back of your arms), upper back, glutes, and core. All of those things must be strong to have a good game of golf.

Apparently, there are infinite amounts of different types of push-ups, so it doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or an advanced athlete.

2) Central movements like Planks and Mountain Climbers. Like pushups, they are excellent core strengtheners and stabilizers and will help your game tremendously.

They also help with your stamina, which will help you advance towards the end of the round.

3) Lower body body weight movements like squats and lunges. The golf swing uses a lot of force from the hips, not just the upper body. If you only use your upper body in the golf swing, you are asking for an injury and a really bad game of golf.

Having strong legs and hips will lengthen your thrusts and increase your stamina, especially if you want to walk the course.

4) Proper nutrition. This has to be part of any golfer’s fitness program. If you pay attention to Tiger in any tournament, you will see him eating fruits, nuts, and drinking electrolyte drinks and water during rounds.

You know how important these things are to your golf game and your health. Eating things like fruits and nuts while playing golf will help keep your brain sharp and focused, helping to make sure you don’t choke on the back holes and turn a good round at 120.

So take a hint from Tiger and me, and incorporate these things into your training program and I guarantee you’ll get it further and more directly in no time, not to mention burning more fat and getting a better physique.
