Easy and Unique Fundraiser Ideas Using Color Powder

Color Powder can be used in a variety of unique ways to support your fundraising ideas and events. Here are the top 3 ideas for incorporating colored powders into your fundraising campaign.

1: Pep Meetings | Unique High School Fundraisers

Many high schools use colored powders for pep rallies and football games. Although you don’t normally think of a pep rally for a unique fundraising idea, you can add a fundraising element with powder packets. A high school may choose to do a PINK OUT for an October football game to raise money for breast cancer awareness.

Your school may sell individual packets of pink powder to students and every time their team scores, they throw pink powder into the air. You can also ask local businesses to sponsor a quarter of the game and every time the team scores they will donate X amount towards your fundraising goal. You can certainly raise funds for your institution or other charities and non-profits too! Try to present the shadow of the school or non-profit organization you are supporting.

2: Color Wars

You may already have a fundraiser planned that doesn’t involve a fun run or pep rally, however you can still use colored powders to reach the ultimate goal! For high schools, middle schools, and church youth groups, consider offering a color war as an incentive for the class or team that raises the most funds!

This age group loves to run around and throw colored powder at each other and you can be sure that you will have some stiff competition for your chance to have a color war!

3: organize a color race

Many schools and non-profit organizations organize a run of the colors. A Colorful Fun Run is a creative and interactive way to get your community involved in fundraising efforts. It’s a creative outdoor activity that gets everyone moving, laughing and wanting to attend year after year!

Many vendors offer bulk powder, individual packs, and even racing kits for fun and easy racing. Entry fees, individual package sales and race kit sales along with sponsorships will help you reach your fundraising goals.

How does a color roll work?

A color run is just like a typical fun run, except runners are showered with colored powder at different points throughout the race. The areas where colored powder is thrown at them are called color stations. Typically, a course is featured with 3-5 color stations set up with colored powder on each side of the course to be dropped on participants as they run through the color station. You will need 2-4 volunteers per station to throw the color powder at your runners as they pass through the color station.

Throw the colored powder

There are two preferred methods for dumping colored chalk powder. One is to use small dixie cups to dip the colored powder and throw it at the participants. The other is to use squeeze bottles, fill them with powder and squeeze as the runners pass. Always remember to aim from the shoulders down; You should never throw directly at someone’s face, always avoid the face and eyes. Most organizations choose to use one color per season, but it’s entirely up to you!

What is Color Run powder made of?

The colored powder is usually made from Corstarch. The ingredients of the color powder are food grade cornstarch and FDA and FD&C approved food and cosmetic colorants. That’s it! It is safe and easy to clean with a little soap and water.
