The March 2013 Labor Force Survey published by Statistics Canada painted a disappointing picture of full-time employment in March. Sending text and picture messages via email to friends is still very popular. So will Google Buzz make consumers change?

Dealing with the competition:

With a strong loyal user base of 400 million, social media giant Facebook has been in business since 2007 and is gobbling up the market pie faster by the minute. By constantly innovating and adding new features, Facebook has managed to attract and retain users more than any other social networking site, and is Google’s #1 competition. It is followed in second place by Twitter, with 18 million registered users.

Over the years, Google has made several attempts to catch up with the competition, but has failed to do so.

Unstable trajectory:

Google hasn’t exactly established itself in the social media space. The search engine giant has been struggling to build a loyal customer base and seems to distribute more apps than the market can handle. Most famously, Orkut failed to take off outside of India and Brazil, and Google’s other social media efforts also collapsed in the market: Dodgeball, Jaiku, and OpenSocial, to name three.

More recently, Google launched Google Wave, another medium for sharing information, data, and opinions, which didn’t really take off. So what is the difference between Buzz and Wave?

Google Buzz uses email updates, while Google Wave is real-time communication (you can actually watch someone write their response or comment on an individual wave). Wave was built with collaboration features like editing a document, scheduling an event, creating meeting notes, and so on. But if you just want to share photos, videos, or comments that don’t require real-time communication, then Google Buzz is probably the best option.

One of the problems with Wave is that it’s a hard tool to explain to others, and once you understand what Wave is, it’s even harder to understand everything you can do with it. Buzz, on the other hand, works similar to email and focuses on one thing: sharing content with others. This is probably one of the reasons why Google Wave didn’t work as well as everyone expected.

However, Google Buzz could prove to be much more promising than its predecessor:

Buzz, from day one, is a better, fancier service than Facebook has become after six years. Part of this is because Facebook had to build its network from scratch and was a pioneer in the category, giving it a lot of baggage to overcome at this point. Meanwhile, Google has the advantage of building on Gmail and being able to borrow good ideas from both Facebook and Twitter. I call this “second mover advantage.” Google Buzz is simple, elegant, and pretty fast. Buzz makes it easy to include photos and other media in posts, which is an advantage over Facebook. Google is not in the habit of making breaking changes when users feel comfortable with the previous changes. Facebook seems adrift; Google no.

Google’s privacy trumps Facebook’s privacy. Despite the number 1 below, Google generally gets good marks for protecting user data. Another point I’d like to make is the fact that while Facebook has carved a niche for itself in the ‘pure social casual’ space, Google Buzz has the potential to target the business user space. February 23rd is the sixth anniversary of my daughter’s death. I’m not looking forward to it. Just thinking about the day brings up painful memories and images. At the time, my father-in-law was in the hospital and receiving treatment for pneumonia. My daughter, who admired him so much, took a break from work to be with him.

Searching for a new meaning, sign number five, was easy because of my new identities. He had no time for a pity party; two vulnerable teenagers were counting on me and my husband. When it comes to the sixth yield sign, receiving continued support from others, I am blessed. My extended family and a close circle of friends have been by my side throughout my grievance journey.

“Hope for a continued life will emerge as you can commit to the future,” Wolfelt writes. I have found his statement to be true. Despite all the pain, I am in a good place in life. Are you struggling with horrible memories and anniversary reactions? I hope you find your new identity, grow from pain, choose happiness for yourself and create a new life.

On the sixth anniversary of my daughter’s death, I will write in the morning, send an email to my grandson in Argentina, where he is studying, and meet with relatives. I will always be a heartbroken father and have learned that love is eternal. Love is really stronger than death.

Sempu Island is a small island with no inhabitants, located in the southern part of Malang, East Java, Indonesia. Not many people know about this island, since it is difficult to access. I went there about six months ago with my friend. It took us about five hours to get there from Malang, and we got there without enough information and preparation. We arrived at 3 pm After taking some photos, our new friends left there and the two of us went back to Sendangbiru.

On the way back we met a group of five with whom we later went together. Unfortunately, one of us injured his leg. The day grew darker and we couldn’t go any faster. It was already getting dark, and many other people came with us as the last group to return. There was no torch, no electricity in the middle of the forest. There was only panic in the silence but we kept going. We often had to crawl on the slippery and spiked ground. We kept going while asking some friends and boatmen for help. And after five hours, we feel revived, we find the exit with the boatmen waiting in the same place where we arrived. We were all incredibly muddy all over our bodies.

Luckily, some of our friends had cars, so my friend and I were able to go home after taking a shower in Sendangbiru to get all the mud off our bodies. I got home at 1 am, my parents were waiting for me in a panic.

After all, I would suggest my friends to come with preparation when they come to Sempu Island, like good slippers or boots. And since it is a forest, it is better to wait for the land to dry out, so that we can reach Segara Anakan beach much faster and safer. Some people resting on the beach at night should bring their own food and drinks next to the camping utility like tent and flashlight, because we can’t find any street vendor there. Finally, we must take into account the last hour of public transport.

THE BIG HEAT (1953) is a classic noir film with Glenn Ford and Gloria Grahame in the lead roles, with a very young Lee Marvin playing a mobster.

Glenn Ford plays the detective. Sergeant Dave Bannion, the straight arrow who refuses to back down when his investigation into the suicide of a fellow police sergeant upsets mob boss Mike Lagana, who has Police Commissioner Higgins and Bannion’s boss Lt. Wilks, in his pocket.

The movie opens with a bang, literally: Police Sergeant Duncan commits suicide in his home, leaving behind an envelope addressed to the DA.

However, his suspiciously cold widow, Bertha Duncan, who enters his study just after the incident, picks up the envelope as her husband’s corpse is still bleeding on her desk, and calls for Lagana.

A deal is made and Mrs. Duncan is put on the payroll in exchange for suppressing her husband’s letter revealing mob ties. Later we understand that Sgt. Duncan was also at the shot, but regretted what he had done and tried to drive out the mob by committing suicide.

Duncan’s death is swept under the rug as the suicide of an unhappy man who was ill. But Duncan’s girlfriend contacts Bannion and insists that Duncan was not sick, he was happy, and in fact had a lively affair with her at their summer house, suggesting too much wealth for a cop who you are supposed to survive on a limited income.

Bannion can smell something very rotten in the suicide ruling, but he is told to step back and “let it be”, which of course makes him even more suspicious and adamant.

Soon Duncan’s girlfriend, seen talking to him in a bar staffed by Lagana spies, is found dead, thrown from a car into a ditch on the outskirts of town. Bannion realizes that she is definitely correct.

During his investigation, Bannion befriends Debby (played by a very talented Gloria Grahame), the girlfriend of gangster Vince Stone (Lee Marvin) who is regularly abused and scorned in the Stone household. This semi-romantic bond becomes crucial later in the story.

The big “plot point” comes when Stone’s hit man Larry Gordon blows up Bannion’s car one night in his driveway with his beautiful wife in it. Revenge is on.

Bannion, even after being ordered to surrender his badge and resign his position, vows to find Larry Gordon and seek revenge.

Debby, whose face is burned when Stone throws a hot cup of coffee in her face during one of her outbursts, takes refuge with Bannion, who has evacuated his home after his wife’s death and moved into a hotel.

Deeply angry and dejected that half of her face has been burned with an ugly scar, Debby is a woman with nothing to lose. And since she knows her inside score, she takes matters into her own hands by first killing the smug Mrs. Duncan, who she was sure would live on an easy street for the rest of her life. Was she wrong about that?

Debby then brings Bannion to both Larry Gordon and Vince Stone.

The final showdown between Bannion and Stone takes place in Stone’s penthouse with a stunning night view of skyscrapers lit up like Christmas trees.

Debby achieves the closure she seeks by burning Vince’s faces as well with a hot cup of coffee before Vince fatally shoots her. After the mandatory shootout on the terrace, Bannion captures Stone alive.

From Sgt. Duncan’s hidden letter was Mrs. Duncan’s guarantee, once she dies, the letter is revealed as per her instructions and Lagana and all of her men are hastily arrested.

In the last scene, Bannion is reinstated in his job as a police detective with integrity and is welcomed into his office with the warm admiration of his colleagues and subordinates.

But what happens to Police Commissioner Higgins and his boss, Lieutenant Wilks, isn’t quite clear at the end of the movie. It appears that the former, a political appointee, is also fired, but Lt. Wilks survives his checkered past and ordeal. This is life.

The production values ​​on this film are less than what you would expect from a film made in 1953. Debby’s burn scar, for example, is a funny sheet of glue stuck to her left cheek and makes one wonder what so primitive is the state of makeup. art was back in those days. But Glen Ford and Gloria Grahame display a nuanced sensibility and believable approach to their characters.

The plot isn’t too bad either, especially for noir fans like me.
