7 Extinct Creatures That Were Horrific Giant Versions Of Today’s Animals

In our daily lives, few things can truly scare us more. Sure, when we were young, but we eventually got over those fears and realized that vampires or werewolves don’t exist, and as we got older, the fear of other things like: big dogs, clowns, and grandma, who always wanted to kiss us. in the mouth, everything vanished. The reason we don’t have to move in primal fear, like most other wild animals, is that we rarely come face to face with a creature that can bite us in half and go about its daily business, unless, Of course, you live in rural Australia where every day is an epic fight for survival. However, since you’re reading this post from your computer, I’m assuming you’re enjoying the comforts of civilization, plus if you live in Australia, there’s a good chance you’re dead.

Most of today’s creatures are too small to cause a serious threat, and the ones that can kill us are locked away in dark corners of the world, where hardly any humans bother to live. However, there was a time when nature was still trying to decide which of its creations was worthy of being the dominant life form in its ecosystem, and it came up with some really weird and downright horrible designs during this testing phase. and mistake. We are talking about a long time ago, a time when the human species did not exist or was still trying to prepare meat without burning the neck. In this ancient world, nature seemed to have a hard time establishing a sense of scale for its creations, and basically anything alive during that time was huge and equipped with claws that could rip your head off in one fell swoop.

Fortunately for us, we dodged an evolutionary bullet when nature rectified its mistake by hitting the reset button, or by shrinking these monstrous creatures. If that had never happened, humanity would no doubt have declared war on every single extinct creature on this list, and we’d probably be checking our email from a house that looks like a bunker from the zombie apocalypse, praying our scent didn’t. Do it. Being picked up by extinct creatures like:

Gigantopithecus, also known as Bigfoot

While it’s apparently not the scariest extinct creature on this list, there is something about this giant primate that needs to be noted. I mean, these apes existed at a time when humans were already walking the earth… Imagine being face to face with a 10 foot tall, 1,200 pound gorilla and not having a flamethrower to defend yourself.

A complete skeleton of these primates was never found, so scientists are still trying to fill in some of the blanks. The common belief is that they walked on all fours, so these images are more to demonstrate their terrifying size. However, anthropologist Grover Krantz proposed the idea that they actually moved on two legs as he attempted to connect this extinct animal with the existence of a creature rumored to still be living today, the legendary Bigfoot.

Argentavis Magnificens, the giant bird

This gigantic bird of prey is the largest bird to ever terrorize the skies. It had a wingspan about the same size as a Learjet and could certainly snatch a full-grown person off the ground and sink them whole in one fell swoop. As much as I’d give a liver to see one of these magnificent bastards, I think we can all thank God Almighty for hitting the reset button on this one. Enjoying the sun in your backyard, outdoor sports, riding a bike, forget all that shit, it just wouldn’t be worth it if we had these monsters patrolling the sky.

On the other hand, maybe we could have tamed them, and we’d all be flying these things to work.

Titanoboa, the snake that would beat up King Kong

Anacondas are already huge, with the largest on record stretching a staggering 27 feet. However, the early sketch of the nature of this animal, called the “Titanoboa cerrejonensis”, it was on a whole different level of terror. This creature, which looks like it was straight out of a 1970s direct-to-video movie, lived about 60 million years ago. He grew to about 50 feet, weighed 2,500 pounds, and could probably crush you to death just by looking at you.

Nature didn’t give it the ability to fly, but other than that, this has to be the meanest creature that ever lived. In fact, he survived the extinction event that wiped out all the dinosaurs, probably by curling up into a ball while laughing madly at nature itself.

Supercroc, the name says it all…

Here we have another extinct creature that looks like it came off the set of a Godzilla movie. Yes, it’s actually called Supercroc, which sounds like a name a 6-year-old would have come up with. But to be fair, there is no other name that does justice to this seemingly invincible monster. Super crocodiles are more or less the same terrifying, armored things we see today, but with a horrible twist. With crocodiles today, you basically have a period of rapid growth, followed by a little bit of growth, but this guy wasn’t slowing down at all! It continued to grow throughout its life and is believed to be the size of a bus and weigh nearly 9,000kg. By comparison, the largest recorded saltwater crocodile weighed 1,200kg and so did your mom!

Imagine the traffic jams this beast would have caused if it were still alive today…

Amphicyonidae, also known as Bone-Crunching-Bear-Dog

We all know that bears are crazy crazy, but because of the Care Bears and Winnie the Pooh, they never really seem that dangerous and kind of cute. Of course, not many of us have first-hand experience with being mauled by a Grizzly, otherwise the general consensus would have been totally different. However, if these Bear-Dogs still existed, I’m sure this misconception would not have existed in the first place. When any animal has “crunching bones” in its name, you know shit is getting serious. What we have here are basically the scariest parts of a lion, a wolf, and a bear, brought together in one big Frankensteinian death typewriter.

He had the size and strength of a bear, the giant flesh-cutting teeth of a werewolf, and the claws, speed, and dexterity of a lion. At that time, 19 million years ago, it was the absolute apex predator, having ruled the North American countryside for no less than 5 million years. Eventually, nature admitted that this beast was seriously overpowered, effectively splitting its killer parts into 3 of the fiercest animals we see today.

Meganeura, the giant dragonfly

When God was napping, the devil must have created this monstrosity just to prevent a single person from sleeping at night and to collect the souls of children. Mageneura were dragonfly-like insects that were the size of an eagle, making them the largest flying insects that ever lived.

The good news is that flying insects of this size will never return, as the change in oxygen levels during this prehistoric time resulted in their extinction. In today’s atmosphere, fortunately, they couldn’t absorb enough oxygen to support this massive size. Not much else is known about these horrors, except that fly swatters would now have come with metal spikes, if these things were still flapping around our porch light.

Megalodon, the Great White Shark – multiplied by 10

For the record, Megalodon is hands down the scariest thing to ever exist on the planet. The only reason it’s not at the top of this list of horrible extinct creatures is because it doesn’t have legs, which would have made it easier to avoid. If I were a mermaid, I would definitely be on top, that’s for sure. Regardless, if you’ve ever seen a monster movie, I’m pretty sure Megalodon was the star in at least one of them. In these movies you see them eat the Golden Gate Bridge, gobble up cruise ships, or snatch Jumbo Jets out of the sky (no shit, watch the video!). What’s even scarier than the acting in these movies, is that all of these ridiculous scenarios would probably have come true if these gigantic sharks still existed today…

A complete skeleton of this monstrous shark was never discovered, but what we do know is that Megalodon was between 55 and 60 feet (20 meters) long and weighed up to 100 tons, which is pretty much the same as a blue whale. The teeth of this prehistoric shark were over half a foot long and you’d have to go back 65 million years, to none other than Tyrannosaurus Rex, to find a creature with larger helicopters. Furthermore, this giant’s biting power is known to be the strongest of any creature that has ever lived. Scientists have calculated that it weighs about 18.2 tons, which is 10 times the strength of a great white shark, enough to crush the skull of a prehistoric whale like an egg, or split the Golden Gate Bridge in two.

As you can imagine, this was the last marine predator and we still don’t know what caused its extinction. Speculation is that Megalodon may have been ruined by global cooling or by the gradual disappearance of the giant whales that made up the bulk of its diet. There are also those who believe that this mega shark still lurks deep below the ocean floor, but there is no hard evidence to back this up. I’m not sure if anyone who went out to test that theory ever made it back to shore though…

Well I hope you guys enjoyed it and for the record I was just kidding with that Yo Momma joke so please stop throwing eggs at my window!
