Oahu for Kids: Four Things They’ll Really Enjoy

Hawaii is often considered a place full of romance, and it certainly is, but it’s also a wonderful place to visit with the family. For one thing, even children can appreciate the beauty of the natural environment that Hawaii is known for. And to top it off, there are plenty of activities for the kids to enjoy as well. Particularly on the island of Oahu, in the Ko Olina area, visitors can find a wide variety of activities for children. The best part is that many of the activities that children can enjoy can also be enjoyed by adults. Although you may arrive on Oahu and find a completely different activity to enjoy, it’s helpful to learn about some of the options, if only to get an idea of what’s out there. Four kid-friendly activities in particular seem to be especially loved by families visiting Oahu.

1. Disney Hawaiian Style – One of the most exciting entertainment options for kids visiting Oahu is Disney’s Aulani Recreation Area in the Ko Olina area. Although you won’t find a Disney park here, you will find many other activities for children. Some of the features on the Disney property include a water slide, a water tube, the Menehune bridge and trail, a man-made snorkeling lagoon, and the stingray-filled conservation pool. All these features can be enjoyed by the parents together with the children, which really makes it a family vacation.

2. Scuba Diving: Scuba diving is a wonderful experience for kids too, and Oahu is a great place to do it. Snorkeling cruises are offered throughout the day and can be taken on a variety of different water craft. Kids will love swimming with the wide variety of marine life swimming in the waters, and parents will love watching their children take part in such an amazing experience, and of course they’ll love snorkeling too.

3. A Nature Tour: There’s a lot of nature to see in Hawaii, and it may surprise some that it’s not all in the water. There are many other natural wonders to take your children to see on the island of Oahu. Between the spectacular waterfalls, the enchanting rainforests, the historic volcanoes, and the wide variety of unusual wildlife, you can be sure that a nature tour will not only be fun for your children, but also a learning experience.

4. Pineapple Garden Maze – Finally, one of the more unusual activities for kids on the island of Oahu is the Dole Pineapple Garden Maze. This is truly a unique experience that both children and adults can enjoy. The maze consists of over two acres of native Hawaiian plants, and is an incredible site to see. Plus, there are other exciting things to do while visiting Dole Cannery that you won’t want to miss.

Hawaii may seem like a place for adults, but there’s plenty for kids to do, too. And if you bring your children, you can enjoy some of those activities that you may not have experienced if you left them at home, and bring out the child in you.
