Martial arts and the law of attraction: Jean Claude Vandam against secrecy!

Recently, a movie called The Secret came out and it seemed to take the world by storm with a fairly simple message: We are drawing people, places, resources and experiences to ourselves, moment by moment, based on our subconscious thoughts.

It does not matter whether you believe in this Universal Law or not, nor does it matter whether or not one believes in gravity or electricity. Not believing in gravity will not save you when you lose control while hanging from gutters if you fall off a ceiling. Not believing in electricity simply because you can’t see it won’t prevent you from getting caught if you plug a paper clip into an outlet.

The Law of Attraction, also called Karma, the Law of Cause and Effect; some even refer to it simply as luck, coincidence or serendipity, it is simply a Universal Law that, believed or not, operates without prejudice 24 hours a day.

Whatever we focus on, whether desired or not, we seem to attract it into our lives. If you’ve ever wondered what your dominant thoughts on money are, just check your wallet. If you’ve ever wondered what your dominant thoughts are on love and relationships, just take a good look at the relationships you have now.

Taking a look at what you have and what you always seem to attract to yourself; Whether it’s the type of people around you, the type of work or career situations, the money troubles, or the incredible chains of good fortune that you always seem to have, it’s a good place to start taking a personal inventory of how you might be thinking. in the subconscious (or, below your conscious level of active wakefulness).

So what does all this have to do with martial arts?

Well, simply put, the activities we engage in say something about how we think and feel. If the Law of Attraction tells us that our dominant thoughts are, at all times, drawing towards us the very things that we seem to be experiencing on a daily basis, then how we are actively filling our minds and what we fill them with is paramount to us. . learning to deliberately attract the things, people, resources, and experiences we want to have, rather than the ones we can have regularly and are unwanted.

Most martial arts normally start from the premise that it is possible that we lack some type of specific training or knowledge (training and knowledge that the martial art can provide) and, because we lack this knowledge, we are probably in danger. that a person takes advantage of us. evil aspect of society. So we studied specific techniques and tactics aimed at physically thwarting an attack and generally destroying the evil attacker.

While typical martial arts training has many good aspects that can lead to greater self-confidence, greater self-defense capabilities, greater awareness, better physical health, and many other positive qualities, the arts that instill the premise that 1. we are missing something, 2. We are in danger, and 3. We need to train to defeat or destroy the evil element that lurks somewhere, it may actually be doing more harm than good.

Thinking about the Law of Attraction, if we actively train in an activity that constantly reinforces beliefs of scarcity, danger, fear, negativity, destruction, violence, etc., what do you think your subconscious does with that information? hours a day?

Simply put, you are constantly looking for experiences to get involved in or bring your way that reinforces what is taught in Martial Arts class.

Stay tuned for part 2 where we will look at some of the different martial arts and what they offer in terms of training your body, as well as your mind, to be more than just a “bad guy” busting machine and instead , to become a deliberate attractor to the very things one needs to fully experience life at its finest.
