Well, if you didn’t know, you know now. I am not a scientist, but I am an environmentalist with a fascination and love for the complexities of the inner and outer workings of the earth, and I can tell you that many ecological changes are surely taking place on our planet. The question is what is causing these changes? Are they natural or artificial? If you want to play detective, you can find tons of explanations on the web just by googling it! Explanations vary, but these are some of the main results. Many God-fearing people believe that we are experiencing the end of time. That the Book of Revelations unfolds like a daily movie in our lives. Others blame the government saying they are manipulating the climate and deliberately creating “states of emergency” so that the Illuminati can take over the world and reduce our current population by 90%. Other schools of thought are that aliens are to blame and that it is they who are using their advanced technologies to wreak havoc on the planet. Many scientists believe that it is simply a natural part of the earth’s cycle and that these changes have occurred before in history and are simply repeating these cyclical events. Then there are the Hopi Indians who believe that a great “purification” is taking place while others believe that the Mayan prophecies are being fulfilled. The New Age movement believes that human consciousness is rising to a new level and after the earth goes through its changes, a more pure and loving earth will be born.

I’m not sure who has the correct answer to today’s world’s problems, but I know one thing for sure. This is a competition where being right doesn’t really have a winner. If we are headed for extinction, I’m thinking, does it matter what the cause is? However, I believe that prevention is better than cure. If you knew that the biggest storm of the century was going to hit your city, what would you do? You’re probably rushing to the store (you and 1000 other people) to stock up on supplies, right? Well, based on everything you’ve read above, do you think there’s a big storm coming, whether it’s economical, green, or storage? If you were ever a Boy Scout, Brownie, or Girl Guide, you should still have that inner push that says, “Get ready!” Being prepared for any disaster is being responsible. It is not being an alarmist. If nothing bad happens, rejoice in the many supplies you won’t have to buy and throw a great celebration party.
