Many craft enthusiasts have fallen in love with their personal electronic die cutter, the Cricut. A new addition to the already popular product is the development of a software program created just for Cricut users.
Cricut Design Studio is a software program created by Provocraft, the designers of the Cricut machine. While the machine itself allows the user to cut various shapes and fonts in a variety of sizes, Cricut Design Studio takes it to a whole new level. Simply connect the Cricut to the computer via a USB port, install the software, and unleash a whole new dimension of creation.
The main benefit of Cricut Design Studio is the ability for users to weld or connect letters to form a single cutout. Gone are the days of pasting each letter one at a time. Now letters, phrases and shapes can be welded together before cutting, making adding cuts to projects faster and easier than ever.
Another benefit of Cricut Design Studio is that shapes and letters can be extensively manipulated before cutting. Users are no longer limited to just adjusting the size, but can now change the properties of the shape to better support their overall design. Each image can be stretched, tilted and flipped to get the exact look the craftsman needs.
While Cricut Design Studio has one benefit after another, my personal favorite is the ability to incorporate images from multiple cartridges into one design. The user can now design with all cartridge options at once instead of just cutting with one cartridge at a time.
Powerful and ultra-creative users have created inspiring projects by combining several different cartridges in one incredible cut.
The Cricut Design Studio is, in my opinion, a must for every Cricut owner. While there is a learning curve, once understood, the creative options are absolutely limitless. Cricut and Design Studio have become a must-have resource for all scrapbook and card makers today.

Did you know that babies also have their social needs, just like adults? They Yes. No matter what status we have in society, we all have basic needs and babies are no exception. We have physical, social, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual needs. To learn more about these needs, read this article below.
Human beings have social needs that must be met by establishing relationships with other individuals to achieve a sense of acceptance and a sense of belonging. These needs are met by building relationships with colleagues and friends.
Like adults, babies also need food, security, love, attention, and interaction. They also need security, friendship, and companionship.
Since parents are the first people they meet and from where they get their social needs, it is important that parents interact with them regularly to expose them to social skills. Despite their busy and hectic schedules, you must find time to make them feel wanted and loved.
Since babies mimic your movements. You better act and serve as their rough models. Be careful with your actions, words, and movements because they generally emulate your actions, no matter how positive or negative they are.
Encourage your friends and family to act and be sociable with your baby to help him develop his social skills and teach them how to recognize different types of interactions.
To boost their social development and vocabulary, you must interact with them from birth, you can talk to them and say new words. To break the ice and help them find new friends at school, you have to let them wear cool baby clothes. Because these clothes provide them with comfort, they can socialize and make friends with other children. The more diverse people they met, the more children developed socially, thus boosting their social growth.
To find the right friends and companions, you better monitor their social interactions to choose the right people for them. Because his brain can easily absorb anything, make sure your child has a positive and correct interaction to help him grow and become the right person to be proud of.
Other tips on how you can develop your child’s social skills:
- Social environment: You must expose your child to many social environments. You can take it out often and change your daily routine so you can see the change of scenery. By doing so, you will be stimulated and excited to see new environments, voices, and places. You can also take it to the recreation center, the store, or the parent-baby exercise class.
- Playgroup – Find a suitable playgroup / parent that you can join. In doing so, babies would enjoy watching other children interact with their old and new friends. It also gives them the opportunity to be part of a large group. Taking him to more social settings further expands his social world.
- You can make him sit at the table so that he can socialize with another family member and have the opportunity to be part of a larger group.
By following the tips and advice mentioned above, you can help your baby develop his social skills and meet his social needs.

New fossil sheds light on the origins of Triceratops, Stegosaurus and Iguanodon
Dinosaurs are divided into two main groups, these are called saurischians (lizard hips) and ornithischians (bird hips). There are a number of different characteristics that distinguish these two groups, but simply put, each group of dinosaurs had a different design of the hip bones. In bird-hipped dinosaurs like Stegosaurus and Triceratops, two hip bones, the ischium and the pubis, point backward. In lizard-hipped dinosaurs like Allosaurus and Diplodocus, these two bones point in different directions.
Dinosaurs were first classified in the 19th century
This classification of dinosaurs was made in the 19th century, before scientists realized that birds are closely related to dinosaurs, it is lizard-hipped dinosaurs that gave rise to birds, not hipped dinosaurs birdlike, as might be supposed. The classification of dinosaurs is fraught with complications like this, mainly because it is a bit of a “moveable feast.” Improvements in research and new techniques along with more fossils mean that scientists are increasing their knowledge all the time and that some of the established ancient science is now being rethought and rewritten.
The discovery of a new dinosaur called the Eocursor has led scientists to claim that this animal is a major advance in our understanding of the evolution of bird-hipped dinosaurs. A group that included famous dinosaurs like Triceratops, Iguanodon, and Stegosaurus.
Dinosaur discovered in South Africa
The fossil was unearthed in the Karoo Basin region of South Africa in 1993. The Karoo Basin is a very important part of the world for paleontologists, this large area has a thick sequence of sedimentary rocks deposited between 260 million years and 190 million years, which represents time. from the middle of the Permian to the beginning of the Jurassic. Little is known about the origins of dinosaurs, the first fossils date back about 235 million years, this new fossil is about 210 million years old. It is important because this single specimen (spine, lower jaw, limb bones, and most important of all, the pelvis) shows the bones pointing backwards in the pelvic area of an ornithischian. This fossil will help shed some light on the early evolution of Ornithischia.
What was one of the first dinosaurs with the hip of a bird like?
Eocursor, or to give it its own species name. Eocursor parvus (small, early runner), was a small, agile, herbivore. It was the size of a dog and had teeth suitable for eating plants, relatively long arms and hands, perhaps indicating that it moved on all fours, but the hands may have been helpful in grasping the foliage while feeding. The long hind legs and slight skeleton suggest it was a fast runner, standing up and using its speed to dodge slower predators such as mammalian-like cynodonts or primitive crocodile-like Archosaurs.
Although the remains were first discovered in 1993, the skeleton has only recently been studied and its importance has not been understood. Described as an “important find” by paleontologists, this South African discovery will help scientists reconstruct the family tree of dinosaurs.
The assessment of the work carried out by Dr. Richard Butler (Museum of Natural History) and his co-researchers at the Iziko South African Museum in Cape Town and the University of Cambridge (UK).
Little Eocursor parvus may help paleontologists shed some light on the evolution of the Ornithischians, the part of the dinosaur family tree that gave rise to the Stegosaurs, Triceratops, and Iguanodon.
When Eocursor roamed the earth, during the Triassic period, all the continental plates came together to form a large land mass called Pangea, but not much is known about the evolution of herbivorous dinosaurs, in fact perhaps the early Ornithischian dinosaur. best known. is Fabrosaurus that lived during the early Jurassic, a few million years after Eocursor.

How do you tune out, relax, and tune out?
How do you recharge your battery?
What makes you happy, makes you smile, and lifts your spirits?
During a beautiful sunny day, around 70 degrees, (two weeks ago), my husband and I took out our boat with our oldest son, daughter-in-law and grandson. We drove our boat to a nearby public island to walk along the water, sit on the sand, and watch birds, pelicans, seagulls, and a heron fly and swim. It was an amazing afternoon!
What do you do to recharge your battery and relax with your family?
What outing can you do with your family to go out and enjoy nature?
I found a magic pill that helps clear the cobwebs from your mind, gives you more energy, improves your relationships, and even makes you look better. The lozenge is not a lozenge, it is a pair of athletic shoes.
My husband likes to walk 2 miles, early in the morning, several times a week near our house. Sometimes you will see one of our neighbors and they will talk for a few minutes standing 6 feet away! Come home from your walk feeling invigorated!
My dad, Dr. Robert J. Frank, a retired physician, land developer, and builder, worked out every day until the mid-80s at his home gym or local gym. It said, “I’m going to the exercise room.” He didn’t like going to the gym, but said, “It keeps me flexible and moving.” He also enjoyed reading detective stories, thriving on problem solving, and enjoyed planting a garden every year. Dad said, “It was important to eat right, control your weight, and exercise regularly at least 3 days a week.”
We have all endured the experience of putting on athletic shoes after a long period of inactivity. Usually at that point we are looking for something … anything … that can give us an excuse to opt out of training.
Even after a short exercise session, you begin to reap the benefits of exercising and immediately feel the benefits of that exercise for several hours afterward.
Here is a challenge. Schedule time this week to unwind by going out and enjoying some vitamin D (or vitamin ‘N’ for nature), and let me know how you feel!
Everything will feel better. Remind yourself, your family members, co-workers, and friends to schedule some time for nature. Whether that means walking around the block, walking, or running 2 miles. Cut your phone and watch nature.

Who is Perry “Fred” Stone, sir? Some would say preacher of the holy roller, others would say healer. For Mr. Stone, the most important title would be Proud Servant of the Most High God. Born on February 11, 1933, to William Henry Stone and Nalvie Dunford Ball in Johnny Cake Hollow, West Virginia, his initial entry into the world faced challenges as after his mother gave birth, the midwife attempted to kidnap him. If Fred’s father hadn’t arrived in time to rescue him, God only knows what his fate would have been. From the beginning, it seems that Satan has tried to disrupt God’s plan for Fred Stone’s life. Yet he has prevailed and used his ministry to honor and glorify the God of Israel.
At sixteen, Fred attended a revival in West Virginia that changed his life. During the service, the preacher, Mildred Collins, asked, “Fred, if you died at midnight tonight, where would you spend eternity? You are lost without God.” The surprising thing is that Mildred did not know Fred and later informed Fred that she never said those words. What is more intriguing is that none of the parishioners heard Mildred say those words to Fred. However, the Holy Spirit condemned his soul that night and Fred went to the altar and gave his life to Jesus Christ.
After his conversion, Fred witnessed spiritual gifts operating throughout the church for other people and went to the altar and prayed to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit. It was not a long and drawn out prayer to the Lord. It was simple. He prayed, “Lord, whatever this is that everyone else has, I’d like to have it too. It seems to me that I need it.” After three days of prayer, God answered his prayers and received the gift of the Holy Spirit.
During Fred’s initial ministry, the Lord moved tremendously. Fred healed countless people: a woman whose face had been eaten away by cancer was healed through prayer and anointing. A man who was born blind in one eye was miraculously healed and gained sight that he never had. As he grew spiritually in the Lord, he met a beautiful singer, Juanita Bava, at a revival. They had four children: Diane, Melanie, Perry Jr, and Phillip.
The Holy Spirit was constantly moving through the churches Fred pastored. Although there are numerous churches in the world, it is important to allow the Holy Spirit to move throughout the church. More importantly, the pastor of the congregation needs to allow the Lord to use him as a vessel. God has used Fred Stone as an instrument to display the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit; explains each gift in detail:
Word of Wisdom – A spiritual statement that applies the Word of God.
Word of Knowledge – An inspiring revelation that provides knowledge from God about a specific person or circumstance.
Faith: a supernatural ability to trust and believe in God for the miraculous.
Gift of healing: from the prayer of a believer in Christ, the supernatural of God heals the physical and emotional health of the sick.
Work of miracles: supernatural acts of God that often change the course of natural law.
Prophecy- A statement that comes directly from God at the prompting of the Holy Spirit that reveals God’s will in a specific situation.
Discernment of spirits: allows the believer to recognize if a spirit, a prophecy, a word is truly of the Holy Spirit.
Different Kinds of Tongues – The Spirit-filled believer speaks supernaturally in different languages unknown to the speaker.
Interpretation of tongues: Through the Holy Spirit, this gift makes known the meaning of the revelation that was spoken in tongues.
Some denominations claim that the gift of tongues no longer occurs in the present age. That is simply not true. On one occasion when I was at the altar praying for a man, Fred spoke in tongues and when Fred finished praying, the man said, “You were praying in a perfect Arabic language. You said my name and asked the Lord to fill me with the Holy Spirit. “Fred Stone has never been taught to speak Arabic. As at Pentecost, the Holy Spirit is still using the gifts of tongues to reach unbelievers.
Throughout his life, Fred often mentions how the Holy Spirit has warned him of the trouble ahead. What is so surprising is that sometimes these warnings are given in dreams, visions, or in a clear, audible voice. In 1952, while driving through English, West Virginia, the Lord told Fred to slow down his car because the steering bar was about to fall off; Fred obeyed and minutes later the steering bar fell off while crossing a bridge. In 1968, the Lord gave him a vision about an impending attack on his brother who was serving in the Vietnam War. He quickly wrote to his brother, telling him the details of the vision, which turned out to save his brother’s life because of the vision the Lord gave Fred. In one circumstance, Fred did not heed the Holy Spirit’s warning and he and his family paid a heavy price. In 1960, near Elkin, West Virginia, the Lord tried to warn him three times of an impending accident and Fred ignored the warnings and his family was involved in a near-fatal accident.
Perry “Fred” Stone, Sr. has been on the great commission to spread the Gospel for God since the Lord called him during that revival in West Virginia. You may not be familiar with its name or don’t know who it is, but it is a unique treasure. In reading his life story, there has been a notable common thread: the altar. He constantly went to the altar before God and humbly asked for whatever he needed. By going down the aisle, Fred has led many people to Jesus Christ. Not to mention, his son Perry Stone continues his father’s legacy in spreading the gospel. Apostle, prophet, man of God … any of these titles that Fred Stone could easily claim. However, I have no doubt that the most important title for him is “faithful servant,” an honorable name given to those who deserve it most. After the race is over, I am sure you will hear those words that all Christians long to hear: “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

Therefore, you are looking for a smarter way to buy property, whether it is to live or to invest. Congratulations. If you are reading this article, it means that you have gone from the “think” phase to the “do” phase, and most people never go that far. There are plenty of offers available, if you’re willing to do a little research.
You’ve probably heard that tax foreclosure property is a great investment, and you haven’t gone astray; But now, you’ll learn how to buy a cheap, back-tax home without having to deal with the headache of competition. If you are looking for a cheap property to buy and live in, stay tuned too; this technique will work even better if you are not an investor!
At this point, discard everything you’ve heard or read about sales tax. If you are smart, you will quickly realize that you cannot compete with all the big companies that will clamor to bid against you on the sale. Selling taxes, whether by deeds or links, is not a place for the savvy investor in today’s market. There is a much better way to buy a home with back taxes: from the same tax-delinquent owner.
Most people overlook this strategy, so you will find almost no competition. If you’ve ever tried to buy directly from a foreclosed homeowner, then you understand why this is so unattractive to failed foreclosure investors. Often times, you can’t get these homeowners to call you back for life, and if you get a deal, you will have to deal with the mortgage, the second mortgage, the back bills, the back taxes; But when you buy a home with back taxes, it is a different animal.
Because these houses almost never have a mortgage!
That’s how it is. The mortgage company takes care of any tax issues to avoid losing your interest in the property. So, you will find that almost all of these homes are mortgage-free, or would not be available for tax sale in the first place.
Another thing that may seem counterintuitive is that landlords almost always return your calls, and when they do, they are eager to make a deal with you to sell to you, and for very little money, just to get the property. out of his name! This is because, as you will see, many owners of these properties are not unlucky people and they are losing their homes. They are people who inherited property, or absentee owners, who have had it with this economy and actually let the property be sold with taxes on purpose, just to get rid of it.
This goldmine of homeowners can be hard to find, making them great prospects, and you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find out how many of these homeowners are ready to hand you their deed for a couple hundred dollars, just because I’d rather see you go to. a friendly, small-time investor like you, than seeing you go to government. Are you looking to buy a property to live in? Even better. Expect to find owners even more excited to give it to you, with almost no money.

Let’s start with a quick introduction to the history of virtual reality. Virtual reality was created in 1965 by Ivan Sutherland: he created the “Definitive Screen”, a device that could superimpose metallic-framed interiors in a room. The military was simultaneously researching and investing in the potential of virtual reality for flight simulation and training.
The VR industry continued to develop over the next two decades, but the appeal was limited to only the most ambitious engineers and early adapters due to the cost of the components and the computers that powered them. Even in the early 1990s, the price of a decent VR headset was over $ 50,000. The high cost of entry, of course, meant it was still out of the question for the average consumer.
PALMER LUCKEY AND OCULUS RIFT CHANGE THE GAME
Fast forward 40 years and Palmer Luckey (the inventor of Oculus Rift) created his first virtual reality prototype at age 18 in his parents’ basement. Luckey eventually developed the product that would become known as the Oculus Rift. Oculus has ushered in today’s era of virtual reality development and breathed new life into this promising technology.
The Oculus announcement was closely followed by tech experts, developers, and early adopters, all of whom had been eager to experience this new frontier in VR development. It wasn’t long before heavyweights like Facebook, Google, and Samsung caught on and started investing heavily in VR in hopes of producing the first consumer-ready device. Facebook believes so strongly in the Oculus Rift that it acquired the company for $ 2 billion in March 2014. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg stated that he sees the acquisition as a “long-term bet on the future of computing.”
TODAY’S CHOICES FOR CONSUMERS
The current line of VR products spans the gamut in terms of price and accessibility. You can get your feet wet with Google’s product (aptly named Cardboard). The cardboard is very inexpensive, approximately $ 20.00. It uses easy-to-get components like cardboard, biconvex lenses, a pair of magnets, Velcro, and a rubber band. Instead of a built-in screen like the Oculus Rift, this product works with any Android phone running 4.1 or higher (just slide your phone into the “earpiece”). You assemble it all yourself, following Google’s step-by-step instructions with images.
Your phone powers the entire app experience found in Google’s Cardboard app store.) There are no external cables or clunky hardware to deal with … just the cardboard box and your Android phone. At Primacy, we recently built one to test at home – the entire build took about 5 minutes from start to finish.
Oculus Rift from Facebook
Given the current pace of innovation, it’s a safe bet that both hardware and software for Facebook’s Oculus technology will only get better in the coming months. The consumer model, although not currently available, is expected to launch in mid-2015. The developer model (DK2) costs $ 350 and comes loaded with a low-latency screen (the same one used in the Samsung Galaxy Note 3). The display offers a respectable 960 × 1080 resolution per eye with a 75 Hz refresh rate. The unit also includes a gyroscope, accelerometer, magnometer, and a near-infrared camera for head and position tracking. The applications run on a computer that is connected directly to the headset via an HDMI and USB cable.
Innovative Samsung Gear VR Edition
Samsung saw an opportunity to jump into the virtual reality mix and partnered with Oculus. They have produced a headset that looks like the most consumer-ready device to date. Samsung’s Gear VR Innovator Edition is exactly what you would expect from the established tech giant both in terms of quality and usability. It’s also the most expensive option, with a retail price of $ 200 for the headset + $ 750 (no contract) for the phone needed to power it. Unlike Google’s Cardboard, the Gear VR only works with a Samsung Galaxy Note 4, so if you’re lucky enough to own one, you can save yourself a significant amount of money.
The headset itself is very well designed and quite intuitive. There is a volume, touchpad and “back” toggle button on the right side of the headset that can be used to easily navigate through virtual reality experiences and applications. The top of the headset has a focus wheel that is used to adjust the focus to the optimal range for your eyes. Two straps hold the unit firmly on your head, sealing your view of the outside world to enhance the feeling of immersion. Also, the absence of cables connecting it to a computer helps make the experience more pleasant and portable.
No need to remove the head unit to download or switch apps … it can all be done through the Oculus home menu or Samsung’s app library after initial installation and setup. There are a handful of cool and useful apps included out of the box, like Oculus Cinema, for watching movies and videos in a virtual theater, Oculus 360 Photos, for viewing panoramic photos, and Oculus 360 Videos, for viewing panoramic videos. Samsung also recently launched a market called Milk VR which is basically YouTube for virtual reality.
Samsung Gear VR
THE DOWN SIDE: A CASE OF JUDDERS
We have found that many of the applications available now are graphics intensive and the experience can degrade quickly without a fairly good graphics card. It is worth noting that experiences involving 3D graphics and fast motion can quickly become nauseating to some people due to GPU or frame rate restrictions and a phenomenon known as “jitter” (when images are smeared, marred, or distorted). , so it is really the responsibility of developers to create “comfortable” experiences that aim to minimize vibration. Despite the drawbacks, when used in conjunction with a computer that has a high-end GPU, the result is an immersive feeling that 10 years ago would have seemed impossible. The Oculus developer site currently includes a PC and mobile SDK that includes integrations for the Unity and Unreal game engines. The PC SDK is designed for the Rift DK2, while the Mobile SDK is designed for Oculus-powered devices that take advantage of mobile phones.
VR – THE FUTURE IS HERE (OR REALLY, VERY CLOSE)
We are beginning to break the surface with virtual reality. The emergence of panoramic video and photography is facilitating the “teleportation” of viewers to places where they could never physically be.
Imagine a front row seat to watch your favorite band perform live … with the freedom to look in any direction in real time. Imagine walking (literally … walking) through your favorite national park as if you were really there. Imagine sitting in a conference room on the other side of the world and interacting with others as if you were really there. These are just a few of the amazing apps that virtual reality devices like the Oculus Rift enable. So stay tuned: If current progress is any indication, VR is here to stay and will invade your living room or office long before you think.

Alabama is a southern state located in “the heart of Dixie” with a rich history dating back to the Civil War. It is known for its magnolia trees, lush gardens, grand historic homes, and southern hospitality. Alabama, with a population of more than 4,500,000, is adjacent to Georgia, Mississippi and Florida. The capital of Alabama is Montgomery, which was the first capital of the Confederacy.
Alabama casinos are for the most part bingo casinos, run by Native Americans. Casinos can only be run on Native American land, as there is no legalized gambling as such in the state of Alabama. Alabama casino income, as a result, is not taxed by the state of Alabama, as it is owned by Native American tribes. Most gambling in Alabama can be found at horse racing and dog racing tracks, plus some slot machines, video game machines, and draw cards at these locations.
There are three Alabama casinos, all located 20 minutes from the capital of Montgomery, that do a thriving business. The Creek Entertainment Center in Atmore is open for gambling Monday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. M. At 12 at night, and Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. M. At 4:00 a. M. There are 1,000 live game bingo seats, 200 electronic bingo machines, a number of pull-tab card selections, and a restaurant at the Creek Entertainment Center. The largest of the three Alabama casinos is the Tallapoosa Entertainment Center in Montgomery. The Tallapoosa is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week for casino games. There are 480 electronic bingo seats in 21,000 square feet of gaming space, with a full bar and grill for added convenience.
Alabama’s list of casinos also includes the Riverside Entertainment Center, located in Wetumpka, which is also run by Native Americans. The Riverside Casino is open 24 hours a day, Monday through Saturday, from 12:00 noon to closing time, and on Sundays, from 1:00 p.m. to closing time. This Alabama casino has 16,000 square feet of gaming area, a great selection of more than 530 slot machines, and an on-site restaurant.
Alabama could benefit greatly from having casinos located along the Gulf Coast, both on land and on riverboats. This would encourage competition between Alabama and its neighboring state, Mississippi. It is hoped that the proceeds from the legalization of Alabama casinos and the boost it would provide to the economy will propel the state government to open Alabama to legalized gambling in the near future.

Okay, I know it has a pretty rude title, but it’s a VERY good book! Reading it certainly lit a low fire me butt when I read it.
And in my humble opinion, the best proof of the effectiveness of a self-help book is the exchange it actually leads to one’s life. It’s one thing to read self-help books; it is quite another to implement the advice offered. Reading is passive; the change is active.
I’m not quite sure why the book Shut up, stop whining and get a lifeby Larry Winget resonated so strongly with me when it did, but whatever the reason, the author’s frankness seemed to have … dislodged something in my psyche.
Perhaps when one is ready to hear the truth, however uncomfortable it may be, one is more open to hearing it from a stranger than from a loved one?
In any case, reading this line in Larry’s book hit me to the core:
“The problem is never lack of time. The problem is poorly defined priorities.”
– Larry Winget
Lack of time, I finally realize, is simply an excuse.
Here’s another gem:
“From what you think, what you talk about and what you do something is what comes out.”
– Larry Winget
Yes of course. But here’s the thing: when I stopped and really thought about it, I realized that when it came to an issue that supposedly mattered to me a lot, like climate change, I had to admit that I had been very strong on ‘thinking about’ and the “talking about” part of the equation, but the “doing something” part, not so much.
And here is a nugget that speaks to the higher purpose of our lives:
“People who understand that their purpose is service to others live lives of abundance. Those who don’t just live their lives.”
– Larry Winget
I took nine pages of notes while reading Shut up, stop whining and get a life. This, in itself, is nothing new to me. Doing something constructive with those notes is what I needed to improve.
“When you stop letting things slide and start taking advantage of every moment, incredible things happen. The small things are the most important thing. Everyone gets the big things. Very few take care of the little things.”
– Larry Winget
I am a chronic note taker. I love writing things. I have neat piles of scrap paper stored in various strategic locations around my house, so that whenever an idea comes to mind (which is frighteningly often), for example a blog topic, I can quickly jot it down. so you don’t. forget. Then I keep it in its respective folder and go on with my day.
Now the astute reader may recognize a small problem brewing with this system. Yes, it’s true: I have enough brilliant ideas scrawled on scraps of paper to sink a battleship. I have a filing system that is so elaborate that the White House would be impressed.
Idea generation and record keeping are not a problem; Getting my ideas to market in a timely manner is what costs me.
I tend to spend so much time on the important things, which are my most important writing projects, like books, scripts, and play scripts, that I have missed countless opportunities to write and post smaller informational blogs that will help me get there. audience I want to eventually reach with my biggest projects.
Although this is due to a variety of excuses (ignorance, lousy time management, disorganization, procrastination, poor prioritization, etc.) in the end, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that I identify the problem and find a way to correct it.
So I did exactly that by accepting Larry’s suggestion to start taking better care of the little things at work, which for me meant spending time writing short, useful blogs on all sorts of different topics, and posting and submitting them. throught social media.
What a concept!
Of course, Larry was right: amazing things started to happen. I started reaching out to many more readers and forming strategic partnerships with like-minded people.
“The problem is never that we do not know, it is always that we do not DO what we already know.”
– Larry Winget
If I didn’t think I’d ever use the hundreds of blog ideas that I so diligently wrote on slips of paper, I highly doubt that I would have written them down in the first place. He just didn’t know how to start using them … And rightly so. Because I can’t write fifty blogs in a week, to make a dent in the stack. But I can write one or two.
That’s what I love about a book like Shut Up, Stop Whining, and Get a Life – it’s full of suggestions that we already know to be true; we may need a friendly reminder to kick the pants … when the time is right for us to really hear the message.
In closing, one of my favorite bits of wisdom from the book was this:
“Do what you say you are going to do, when you said you were going to do it, the way you said you were going to do it. There are no excuses.”
– Larry Winget
I’ve thought about this a lot and I guess it all comes down to being impeccable with our word … living up to our promises. Sometimes this is difficult to do because circumstances change and unexpected things happen. But I do believe that if we can live to do our best to fulfill the commitments we have made, both to ourselves and to others, it really helps to have a life of integrity.
