Every parent I know looks forward to the day their child no longer “produces” sticky, sticky diapers. Most children will be ready to move on to “big pants” between 18 and 24 months. Of course, the process is not without its pitfalls. Find out the best way to potty train your child, as easily as possible.
Is your child ready? Here are some non-exhaustive signs that it may be time to potty train. If she/he:
- Can say the words for urine, stool, bathroom.
- Hates being dirty or wet
- Seems fascinated by the potty (likes to sit on it or is curious/fascinated by toilets)
Ultimately, knowing if your child is ready comes down to guesswork. If it turns out not to be, you can simply try again after a few weeks or months. Do not force the preparation on a child, as it can cause anxiety.
One question you should ask yourself is: Are you ready?
Potty training takes time, energy, and a lot of patience. You will be doing a lot of laundry and going to the bathroom A LOT. Puddles will form on the floor at the worst possible times and you have to remember that you are training your child and you can’t get mad. Again, are you ready? Is there something going on in your home that could make this an insurmountable task? If so, you can wait for a better time.
There is no “one way” to potty train. Here are some we tried:
We went online and let our son select some big boy pants from Amazon. We told him that he was no longer going to wear a diaper and that when the pants came, that would be what he would wear. That way we had 2 days to keep talking about it until the pants arrived in the mail. Then when the postman came we asked him to pick up the pants himself (with our help of course) and we made a big fuss and he put them on. He enjoyed it as long as he had no accidents. When he did, there was a meltdown and we had to deal with it. Also, make sure you’re not too anxious, as he might find out. There isn’t just one way to do this, but there are a few that I highly recommend. Here is a course we used with our last born son and it kept us sane and my son seemed happy with the trip!

Stay away from short-term fast weight loss diets. For the most part, the diet will cause you to cut your food so much that you couldn’t even feed a ten year old for a day.

Tip #2 Eat a balanced diet

Your meals should consist of…

Eat a few pieces of fresh fruit every day and wash everything down with plenty of water.
Many diet plans have to eliminate between high products. Low-carb diet strategies have you eat mostly protein and fat.
Short-term decreases in carbohydrate intake or carbohydrate cycling can be helpful for rapid weight loss. Many diet plan strategies instruct you to cut carbohydrates to very low levels for extended periods of time.
Carbohydrates provide energy for the brain, exercise, and all other activities.
Carbohydrates play an important role in maintaining muscles. Maintaining or including new muscle is necessary for safe and lasting weight loss.
There are really very few healthy diet plans for weight loss. Stay away. You have noticed!
Tip #3 Do weights
Many people think you need to do cardio to lose fat and then lift weights to “tone” it up.
What happens is that people end up doing too much aerobic exercise and not enough resistance exercise.
Extreme aerobic exercises cause loss of muscle mass, which leads to a slower metabolism.
I’m not saying skipping aerobics – it’s simply a part of what you need to do. You need to challenge your muscle through resistance or weight lifting.
Tip #4 Take lessons
To stay injury-free when you exercise, you need to know proper posture, ways to lift weights correctly, breathe efficiently, and the best ways to stretch safely.
Get the right direction through books, videos, or an exceptional fitness professional.
Take some lessons. Don’t forget this important healthy weight loss tip.
Tip #5 Lose just 2 pounds a week
2 pounds isn’t much, but here’s the deal…
Two pounds is the recognized high amount to lose weekly. You are most likely losing muscle and fat if you are losing more than 2 pounds a week.
The exception is if-if you are exceptionally obese. When you start exercising and modifying your eating regimens, you’ll likely lose more than two pounds a week. You will lose large amounts of fat and water weight.
As you approach a healthy weight for your height, the pounds lost weekly need to be up to a pound and a half or more each week.
You will lose 2 pounds of fat each week while maintaining or adding muscle if you eat well and follow a balanced training program.
Tip #6 Don’t overdo it
You don’t need to exercise 2 hours a day to lose weight!
Excessive exercise can result in overtraining.
Overtraining can trigger…
– small or significant injuries
– muscle and joint aches and pains
– feeling tired
– loss of muscle mass
The exercises should last between 30 and 60 minutes and hardly more.
Don’t do it every time you exercise. Extreme training each and every day will lead to overtraining.
Exercise 4-5 days for a couple of weeks to ease your body into the new activity if you are new to exercise.
Think of me; you can get the desired results by exercising 5 or 6 days a week for 30 to 60 minutes.
Tip #7 Stay away from pills
Those weight loss tablet ads are disgusting! They usually manage to make people believe that a container of caffeine tablets is the reason for those fake before and after photos of people who lost weight.
Here’s the deal…
Some research studies have shown that caffeine could increase metabolism and cause a large release. Using caffeine 30 minutes before a workout can help you burn more fat. Pre-workout caffeine is probably most beneficial for people who don’t currently consume a large amount of coffee every day.
I mention the prevention of caffeine tablets. If you want to try some anyway, use this list:
– know the components,
– follow all directions,
– test your tolerance with a small dose,
– do not take them seven days a week,
– Don’t overdose!
Do not use caffeine pills for more than 3 to 4 weeks. Leave the pills alone for 2 to 4 weeks, so that your body’s natural energy systems regularly remind you.
Finally, do your research and look for reviews before purchasing any weight loss supplement.

I usually write and blog about time management. I’m realizing more and more that my effectiveness is tied to my energy level (I must be getting older), so now I’m thinking more about health and energy issues.
Being healthy and strong gives you the energy you need to get things done. The following are 13 fitness inspiration tips that I use:
1 – Exercise with a friend. For me this serves 4 purposes. I seem to lack time to keep up with my friends; this helps. Break the boredom. You can push me. And above all I will be there if I commit, since I do not want to disappoint anyone.
2 – I keep an online log and set goals for myself. For me, I break my workouts into 2.5K or 5K or 10K equivalents (roughly 12, 24, and 45 minute segments). I also keep track of my weights and number of reps etc. My goal is 2 -2.5K, 3 -5K and one 10K per week and 3 upper body which gives me 1 day off per week (my walks are just a bonus). I make a game out of it. Games are fun.
3 – I am definitely a big believer in cross training or doing different things. EG – I take Karate. Each lesson is an equivalent of 2.5K. I run, work out, cycle, stair treadmill, squash, etc. Mixing it up also eliminates boredom and is healthier. it gives the muscles time to heal.
4 – Sometimes I listen to a CD or MP3 to get rid of boredom (although it may be wrong to think that it is boredom). I often listen to audiobooks and I guess watching TV might work for some too.
5 – Make a bet with someone. This was my son’s idea who uses it successfully.
6 – It’s all about momentum. Once you start, you will move on. It takes 21 days to make a habit. At the same time, it’s one day at a time: don’t beat yourself up if you miss a few days.
7 – I like to work by objectives. I run a few 5, 10, 15K races and the occasional half marathon a year. Last year I went a little overboard and ran 3 marathons. I make it a game to improve my times. Preparing for a 5K or 10K in the future can be a great motivation. Your first goal is to finish on your feet.
8- Develop 4-minute exercise routines. I find that I don’t sweat enough to have to shower after a 4 minute workout. I find that they wake me up and make me more alert. It’s the little things that add up.
9 – Consider personal trainer. I’ve done this a couple of times. At a minimum, the gym you join will help show you the equipment and set up a schedule for you. Having that date and paying good money for it can get you out. Coaches also tend to push themselves harder than you do.
10 – People think I have great discipline. I don’t, I use tricks. I put my clothes in the car the night before, so it’s the path of least resistance to just put on a sweat suit and go out and drive to the Y. Once I’m there, I work out. It is the unsuccessful clothes.
11 – I read continuously, I talk to people, I keep my spirits up. It always helps get me back on track.
12 – Do the smallest things. Park 4 spaces further from the door. Walk around while talking on the phone. Take the stairs 2 or 3 floors (in hotels I ask for a room on the 3rd floor and I always take the stairs – in a 3 day stay it can be 27 floors higher), etc. My office in Toronto is on the seventh floor. Why waste electricity for an elevator ride?
13 – I have a set of hand weights in the bedroom that I use to do a few reps every now and then before bed. I carry exercise bands (kind of like big elastic bands or tubes, available at any fitness store) to use when I travel.
This is your most important goal. Health trumps money any day. (IE – no health, who cares what you’re worth)
I often say that exercising doesn’t require extra time. If I exercise for 30 minutes, I am 15 minutes more productive and can easily sleep 15 minutes less. Just do it (and please don’t sue me Nike)

So let me paint the picture: you see a sexy girl in a club, a shopping mall or the tennis club. You develop her guts to talk to her, make her laugh, and somehow manage to get her number. You think to yourself “SWEET! I’m in.”
You end up calling her a couple of days later, like the rulebook suggests… to ask her out. She does not answer. You think, “Hey, she’s probably busy” and try again later that day. You still don’t get an answer. So you call again and finally get an answer. You talk to her expecting things to pick up where you left off and are completely stunned when she starts making excuses as to why she can’t meet with you. She says that she will contact you and never does. You’re left scratching your head, thinking to yourself “Where did it go wrong?”
rule no. Tip #1: Contact her no sooner than 36-48 hours
I know that sounds difficult, right? But you have to stick to these rules. Because when you wait 36-48 hours, you are less likely to appear needy.
I have seen cases where, a few minutes after the date, a text message arrives. Not great. Do you know why? Because you just walked through the whole mystery through the door.
Just make sure when you follow this rule that you don’t wait too long after 48 hours. More than four days and the girl (if she’s interested in you) starts to get upset that you didn’t call her within that “call window” and she assumes you’re not interested.
Rule #2: Send warm-up texts
You know that getting a date is like making a sale. Except that the item you are selling is yourself. So, in other words, you have to look like something she wants to date or buy.
Now, that doesn’t mean being something you’re not. But it does mean that at the moment you operate within certain guidelines until you have internalized all this “game stuff”… so bear with me, okay?
So as part of this, stick to the rule of texting her first before calling her. All girls are comfortable with messages. In fact, we like them better to begin with. Seeing is great for us and it’s great for you too. It means that you can actually think about what you want to write, you don’t have to think on the spot.
Now the main agenda with texting is to heat it up. Let her know that you are on her radar and that you will be in touch with her soon.
If a guy messages us within two days of giving us our number, that’s enough for us to know you’re interested without coming off as really needy and wimpy.
In general, you want messages to be short and sweet. Jokes are always okay, but 10 long messages in 1 is not. Do your best to be the one to end the text conversation. So when you see that the conversation is coming to an end, let her have the last word and don’t text her back.
Some of my friends have a problem with this, because they feel like they are in control by being the ones calling the shots. But you have to look at it from the point of view that YOU are the one in control because you have the strength to stop the message first.
Rule #3: Message to call her on the phone
It’s that simple. If you find that the woman you are interested in is not answering your calls but she texts you, immediately after receiving a text, call her. Chances are she’s right next to her phone and you have to answer it!
Rule #4: keep it light and casual
When you call a woman for the first time, it’s not the best time to engage in a deep and meaningful conversation with her. Actually, you want to keep things fairly informal and brief.
The first thing you want to do when you call the girl is break the ice and make her laugh. Essentially, you want her to go back to the same state she was in when she gave you that phone number. The best way to do this is to refer to something that happened the last time you saw her. Maybe reference a joke you thought was funny with her before and give her updated content. This will bring her back to that place and help her feel more comfortable with you.
That’s the thing about phone calls. You want to be able to establish comfort before you even consider asking her out. If a girl doesn’t believe that she will be comfortable with you or that she won’t be able to trust you, then she won’t even consider going on that date with you.
So remember the rule, keep it light and casual. She breaks the ice and makes him laugh before even considering asking her out.
Rule #5 – Keep it short and sweet
This kind of continuation of the other points. But seriously, don’t talk too much. Like five minutes. As a general rule with all this gaming and dating… Less is always MORE!
You don’t have to get an update on what this girl has been up to in the last two days. She doesn’t have to know about all of her past relationships before they go on a date.
All you have to do is get a girl to… get to know you, like you and trust you and then you can get her to go anywhere and do just about anything with her.
Rule #6 – Leave a voicemail – that’s it!
If you have to leave a voicemail, make sure it’s just one. When courting a girl, you must remember to give her the space to think about you. If you constantly try to get in the way of her space, then she won’t appreciate it at all.
So with voicemail, you have to remember to keep it short and sweet. You don’t have to repeat your number and all that boring stuff. Just leave a short message and then hang up.
So what should you say? Something that prompts her to call you back usually works. It can also be an opportunity for you to challenge him. For example: “Hi Susie. This is John. I just wanted to let you know that I’ve tried and tested your voicemail and it’s working fine. I’d appreciate a thank you phone call.”
So when you call a girl, keep in mind that you might get her voicemail, so know what you’re going to say if this happens. There’s nothing worse than a long, breathless voicemail message with a guy who doesn’t know what she’s talking about, who’s wasting his time and her credit!
Problem solving
- Before you give up try these things first. message first. If the girl texts back, then the chances of her talking to her again are much higher.
- If you text a girl and she doesn’t reply…and this message contained a call to action on her behalf. Then you should know that you are going to have to do a lot of work to get this girl to go on a date with you.
- Persistence isn’t the only tool you need. There is no point in doing the wrong thing over and over again in the hope of a positive result in the end.
- Remember to warm up a girl with you. You can tell a girl has warmed up to you when she laughs at your jokes and the conversation flows.
- When a girl talks easily, it means that she feels comfortable with you. If you find that she is quieter than usual, then something is wrong and she doesn’t feel comfortable, because A = she thinks you’re a freak or B = she hasn’t warmed up to you yet.
- As for what to talk about with her… your main goal is to be cocky, funny, make her laugh, and have a good time.
- Keep it short and sweet and always leave her wanting more.

iBeacons in HomeKit
Currently, Apple has largely marketed iBeacon for the retail environment. With HomeKit, Apple’s homegrown BLE technology will be accessible to a larger customer base setting up a smart home. At its most basic level, the iBeacon will inform Apple’s smart home of the user’s presence when they arrive home and all systems will turn on according to pre-set conditions to welcome them and be ready for use.
Using iBeacon on smart home devices
iBEacon can be used to define actions for smart devices such as lighting, fans, heating/cooling systems, television, etc. among other things. With Siri integration, simple voice commands and spoken reminders will automate systems and wake up devices. Different apps, such as the Calendar app and the Notes app, can also be used to work together with Home Kit and iBeacon to give commands to the various smart devices in the house.
HomeKit currently offers native support with iBeacon to control lighting in the house, there is much more that can be done if you stretch your imagination. For example, a beacon placed on the key will help your smartphone to track the key when it is lost inside the house. Also, when the key is inserted into the lock, lights programmed in various ways will turn on as soon as you enter the house.
Apple iBeacon for the home
In 2014, Apple submitted a proposal to create the first dedicated iBeacon – compatible beacon hardware for its Smart Home product. Apple iBeacon will temporarily turn your iPhone, iPad, or other compatible iOS device into a discoverable beacon. Thus, used with HomeKit, the user will be able to control locks, lights, doors, security cameras, switches, plugs, kitchen appliances and much more. Apple will not supply the hardware for iBeacon as many third party hardware beacon devices are already available. Apple iBeacon will act more like a centralized control center that can be activated from the iPhone or iWatch.
What kind of smart home apps can you create with iBeacon and HomeKit?
There are a plethora of apps available to control lighting and other basic activities around the house. However, these have not yet been fully developed to be truly effective. We bring you some ideas where iBeacon can be applied with HomeKit to create a smart living space.
An iBeacon to notify selected recipients of your arrival. For example, the presence of family members can be detected through the app when they enter or leave the house.
Automatically lock or turn off appliances such as computers, laptops or TVs in the house when the beacon device is not nearby
Take photos from your security camera or webcam remotely and send them via email by activating the camera with the iBeacon. In this way, any intruder photos can be captured and safely stored even when the resident of the house is not home.
Turn on the music system in the car or at home to play any specific song when the beacon device is nearby

I know it’s hard to believe, but eating incompatible fruit combinations can make you sick. If you have been reading my health articles, you probably already know that I am a strong advocate of a Mediterranean Diet that includes adequate amounts of fruits because they provide many essential vitamins and minerals for good health. So if that’s the case, how can eating fruit make you sick? Because when you eat certain fruits in combination with other foods, your body produces toxins and chemical reactions that are harmful to your body. These toxins can cause illness.
Thus, the first rule is to pay attention to the different combinations that can be incurred when eating fruits; the correct combinations will promote health, while the wrong combinations will generate disease. This is due to certain incompatibilities between foods that can be classified into chemical and physical:
*Chemical incompatibility: That in which toxic elements are formed during the digestion process because some of the nutrients found in the foods that are part of the meal are chemically incompatible with each other.
*Physical incompatibility: One in which some foods slow down the digestion of others, causing the mixture to stay longer than necessary in the digestive tract, that is, the stomach and intestines. An example would be eating farinaceous and acidic foods at the same meal.

It is important to know the different groups in which fruits are classified, since this classification would help you to combine them properly. Fruits are generally classified into:
sour fruit: These fruits are rich in acids. Not all acidic fruits contain citric acid, as is the case with pineapple. Acidic fruits include oranges, grapefruit, pineapples, tangerines, lemons, tomatoes, kiwis, and strawberries.
Low acid fruits: The acids in these fruits are not as strong as those in acidic fruits. Low-acid fruits include apricots, plums, grapes, green apples, pears, nectarines, peaches, cherries, and mangoes.
sweet fruit: These fruits do not contain acids. Among them we find ripe bananas, all nuts, ripe mangoes, custard apples, sweet grapes and figs.
neutral fruit: They are the richest in proteins, vitamins, mineral salts and oils. Neutral fruits are avocados, papayas and nuts.
Take into account certain mixes between fruits.
Fresh fruits are easily digestible because they are low in protein, starch and fat, while they have a high content of water, enzymes and vitamins, characteristics that make them quickly absorbed through the intestine. Do not mix sweet fruits with cheese, yogurt, nuts, seeds, beans, chicken, fish, red meat, eggs, and coconut.
neutral fruit: Eating neutral fruits (walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds, peanuts, etc.) and sweet fruits at the same meal will always cause indigestion that can damage the liver. When neutral fruit oils combine with sweet fruit sugars, they produce toxic compounds that damage cells in the body. Neutral fruits can be combined with each other.
Combinations to avoid
1. Oranges and carrots: May cause liver malfunction. They increase bile production, increase substances that damage the kidneys, and can cause heartburn.
2. Pineapples and dairy products: This combination is quite toxic to the body.
3. Papayas and lemons: Can cause problems with hemoglobin, causing anemia.
General recommendations to follow when eating fruit
1. Eat fruit before a meal, not after.
2. Do not get carried away by acidic fruit juices
3. Do not drink fruit juice after a meal. You can drink it an hour before the meal.
4. Don’t mix fruits and vegetables in the same meal.
5. Do not mix oranges with other fruits.
6. Citrus should be consumed in the morning.
7. Sweet fruits can be eaten at any time of the day.
8. The fruit must be eaten ripe. Unripe fruits become acidic in the body.
For a nutritious and tasty fruit salad, you can mix the following fruits: papaya, ripe mango, pears, figs, dates, red apple, peaches, banana, nectarines and fresh cherries.

Nothing gets you in the mood like rocking out to some music, it helps you relax. Listening to your favorite music is a great way to relax. Nod your head to the beat of the music, and as you rock in your hammock, you’ll rock the world!

An afternoon nap can be a real energy booster, and there’s nothing like getting a couple of ZZZ’s in a hammock. Resting your body is second only to physical nutrition for your overall health and wellness, so a good nap can really recharge your batteries. A hammock offers some unique sleeping benefits and you don’t have pressure points when in a hammock that no mattress or bed can really provide. Sleeping in a hammock has been shown to be good for you and the health benefits of hammocks are being discovered and studied in more depth recently. So the next time you’re in the mood for a restful sleep, hop into your hammock and you’ll wake up feeling rejuvenated.

You can use most hammocks inside or outside, so if you want to keep them inside tonight. Dim the lights, catch a movie or use the remote, sit back and watch your favorite show. Or enjoy a movie night with your friends, or better yet, with your lovely partner. Why sit on a sofa when you could lie in a hammock? You will be much more comfortable than sitting on a sofa and you will have more fun doing it.
Feel the cool breeze and experience nature
If you have some trees in your backyard, you can use them to hang your hammock and sit in the cool shade. Or, if you have a hammock stand, you can install it anywhere you like. If you want to cool off from the summer heat and just kick back and relax, then you need a hammock. Hang your hammock in the shade and have a cool drink to cool off from the heat.

Get that glowing tan you’ve always wanted. If you want to stay in the sun and catch some rays, you can do so comfortably in a hammock for hours. Place your hammock by the pool or in your backyard to get your share of sunlight. Be sure to apply some sunscreen to prevent UVA/UVB radiation, which has been linked to skin cancer. On the other hand, you’ll also get your share of vitamin D (also known as the “sunshine vitamin”) as a result of adequate sun exposure, which provides you with some essential nutrients responsible for intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphate.

President George W. Bush’s plan to bail out the auto industry six years ago was a controversial one. His actions were in direct violation of the intent of Congress, who enacted the Troubled Asset Relief Program to support the financial system.
