If you only want to lose weight for a special event and don’t mind losing weight long-term, the 3-Day Cottage Cheese and Grapefruit Diet may be for you. That said, if you have long-term weight loss goals, you’ll probably want to avoid it.
The good thing about this diet is that you can lose up to 10 pounds in 72 hours. The bad news is that you will almost certainly gain all the weight back immediately after going off the diet. It would also be very unhealthy to follow this diet long term, as you would end up malnourished, tired, and susceptible to disease because your immune system will have been compromised.
But, there is nothing wrong with trying in the short term. If you want to go to a high school reunion or look cool for a friend’s wedding, it may work well for you. Just be careful with it.
The 3-Day Grapefruit and Cottage Cheese Diet helps you shed excess water weight, reduce bloating, and burn some fat by reducing your calorie intake. It’s the drastically lower calories that will put the weight back on when you’re done, because your body’s natural reaction will be to store fat when you start eating regularly again.
An important note here: you should avoid this diet if you are taking any type of antidepressant or anti-anxiety medication. Both types of medications can have a negative and dangerous interaction with grapefruit.
The key is to follow the diet to the letter. Any substitution will mean that all your efforts have been wasted!
Day 1:
Breakfast: A cup of black coffee or tea and a slice of toast; eat half a grapefruit or drink a glass of grapefruit juice.
Lunch: Have a full serving of cottage cheese, a slice of toast, and black coffee or tea.
Dinner: Eat three ounces of any lean meat, a cup of carrots, a cup of ice cream or frozen yogurt, an apple, and a cup of black coffee or tea.
Day 2:
Breakfast: A cup of black coffee or tea and a slice of toast; eat half a grapefruit or drink a glass of grapefruit juice.
Lunch: A full serving of cottage cheese, five crackers, and a cup of black coffee or tea.
Dinner: Two hot dogs, half a cup of carrots, a cup of broccoli, a banana, and a cup of black coffee or tea.
Day 3:
Breakfast: Black coffee or tea, five crackers, one ounce of cheddar cheese, and one apple.
Lunch: A boiled egg, a slice of toast and a cup of black coffee or tea.
Dinner: One serving of cottage cheese, one cup of carrots, one cup of cantaloupe, half a cup of ice cream or frozen yogurt, and one cup of black coffee or tea.
So there it is. Hot dogs, crackers and all. But before you start the 3-Day Cottage Cheese and Grapefruit Diet, ask yourself: Are the few pounds of water weight you might lose in exchange for feeling hungry, cranky, and miserable really worth it?

Most of the time, men get nervous when they face their latest love or the girl of their dreams! You may even wonder why the most confident and handsome men seem to wither in front of a beautiful woman!
Like any other man, he is afraid of rejection.
He might be nervous because he’s felt the sting of rejection in the past and doesn’t want to experience that bitter feeling again! This guy wants every move calculated now so he doesn’t have to watch you reject it at the end.
He is not quite sure of his appearance.
You might be anxious about your appearance. You may be a great looking girl, so he is nervous that he is not handsome enough to be considered a match for you. This guy is too insecure, which is why you will see him fidgeting every time you are around him.
He is feeling your presence.
Your mother’s presence sends shivers down his spine, not in a horror movie style, but in a nice way. He is nervous because your presence there affects him. And this guy will want to impress you with his best qualities once he confirms that you are close to him.
He still can’t admit his feelings.
He may be sure of his feelings for you, but he’s still not sure if you’d reciprocate his deep feelings. This is a big reason for him to panic and not approach you yet. Once this guy confirms that you feel the same way about him, that’s the time you’ll make the move on him.
He is dying to make a lasting impression.
This guy is well aware that he has an opportunity to create an impression that you will remember for the rest of your life. He now wants that impression to be truly lasting. That’s why he’s too nervous: this is his decisive move!
He’s suddenly vulnerable with you.
Other women may adore him and he feels safe when he is in front of them. But with the girl of his dreams he feels helpless so he feels and looks nervous every time she is in the same room.
His plans fall apart.
This guy may have his whole life figured out before you came here. But now that you’re here, everything seems to be falling apart. It’s natural for this guy to feel nervous because you’re turning his whole world upside down!

The article aims to help users to know what is unknown error 0x8004060C in Microsoft Outlook and how to fix it using simple methods. The methods described here are simple and correct to date. It is still recommended that users follow the instructions precisely to fix the desired problem without encountering common Microsoft Outlook issues and finally contact Microsoft technical support services.
Can’t send or receive email in Microsoft Outlook 2002? Are you looking for a permanent solution to fix the error message ‘Task ‘Microsoft Exchange Server – Receiving’ error reported (0x8004060C): ‘Unknown error 0x8004060C’? If yes, then the article is for you. Unknown 0x8004060C is one of the common errors in Outlook 2002 that occurs when the size of the general.pst file exceeds its capacity (2 GB). Outlook then stops communicating with the server to prevent existing files from becoming corrupted. Now that you have understood why the problem occurs, let’s start troubleshooting it.
Instructions:
Open Outlook, right click on the deleted objects folder and select the Empty Deleted Items folder. If you are prompted for confirmation, click the Yeah button. It is mandatory to empty the folder as unnecessary mails will only add to the clutter in your mailbox and thus create problems like these.
Other than the deleted objects folder, please delete all unwanted and unnecessary (you no longer need) emails or attachments from your mailbox due to the reason well explained above.
Reduce the size of the .pst file by compacting it. This will fix the problem only for the time until more emails arrive and the file size exceeds its limit again. So it is a temporary solution but it should be done.
Create a new .pst file and then split your Outlook data into it. This will be the easiest solution to perform and save your Outlook data.
If the problem persists, download the a.pst split software from a reputable website. You can choose from several free or paid split software versions as per your convenience. Save the file to your preferred location where it is easily accessible. When done, locate the file, double-click it, and run it. Wait until the process finishes and split your Outlook data into several small .pst files.
The best solution is to update your Windows XP Service Pack (SP) through Microsoft or Windows Updates or visit the Microsoft website for the latest SP. This will remove the 2 GB size limit glitch and allow you to continue enjoying sending or receiving emails in Outlook.
Additional Tips:
Set Windows Updates to download the latest updates automatically. This will save you the pain of remembering and downloading updates manually.

If you want to get away on vacation, but are upset by the price of paying for two hotel rooms just to house your entire family, you may want to look at less expensive options that can actually offer you more space and a more private environment. stay no matter where you go for your family vacation. You may not find vacation home rentals in every area, but you can find them almost anywhere you might be considering for your getaway. You don’t get everything you get with a hotel, but you also get things that no hotel could ever offer.
There are many amenities associated with staying in a hotel, and those are what you are paying for when you pay one hundred to two hundred dollars a night for a room. You have a restaurant right below you, along with many other great shops and stores in some locations. You have help when you need it, someone to clean up after you, and a great location. However, not all families can afford to spend a lot of money in a hotel just for the extras. Vacation home rentals may not offer all of those things, but you get more privacy and save a lot of money while gaining a lot more space to move around.
If you use vacation home rentals, you have the ability to save even more money by cooking some of your own meals. When you’re on vacation, you may want to eat out a lot so you don’t have to do a lot of cooking or cleaning, but if you’re on a tighter budget, it’s nice to have breakfast and even lunch sometimes, which you can do on your own. This allows you to spend more money on some decent meals at the restaurants of your choice. It may also mean that you can take a longer vacation. Look for vacation home rentals with stoves, refrigerators, and dishwashers to make life easier.
Some hotels provide high-quality security personnel with top-notch security systems, but that’s not always the case. Some are just in bad neighborhoods. They may have great security inside, but that doesn’t help if you’re parking in a bad neighborhood or have to go through one to get where you’re going. There are some hotels that look great on paper or through their website, but you are in for a nasty surprise when you get there. You may have the same issues with vacation home rentals, but most investigate them further because they are unique and not from a chain either. Some simply book a hotel by name, not realizing that not everyone is as nice as the rest.
Vacation home rentals aren’t always the best options, but some can be where you experience your most memorable vacation. Some are located near the beach, and others are deep in the woods for a serene, private, and relaxing vacation experience. You can find them almost anywhere. Some families find they can spend two weeks away, or even a month, when they may have only been able to afford a week or just a weekend with the cost of a safe and decent hotel. If you think you can’t afford a getaway, take a look before you decide a vacation is out of the question.

Art has always been and probably always will be one of my favorite topics of all time, both socially and creatively, this topic is one that will keep people chatting for hours on end. Who is the newest painter this year? Where are his shows? Is it really as fabulous as they say? People often gossip about the most rebellious things, so when they start gossiping about things that really matter, I make sure I get a piece of the pie, so to speak.
Very recently I was at this fancy restaurant downtown with some friends and they started talking about how there was some kind of whirlwind for artists this year, supposedly a bunch of people who are fairly new, started showing up all over the place. . Sure, some of these people are well known to people in their neck of the woods, but what about mine? Personally, I’ve never heard of any of the people my friends were talking about and that’s really saying something considering I really love art and try to keep up with all the new talent.
Later when I got home I thought how cool this article would be; name a few people who are still pretty new to the art world and hopefully shed a little light on them. These “artists” range from photographers to painters and a few things in between. So let’s take a look at some of these guys, shall we?
Kristi Miller – Photographer
Kristi began by photographing at her home outside of Pittsburgh, simple things like blue jays in spring, sunsets in summer, and her…dog? From what I hear she is completely self taught and yes, she started out very poorly, photographing everything she found in her viewfinder. In fact, I’ve seen some of her work and it’s absolutely amazing. I mean, okay, anyone can take a photo, right?
But she actually had someone write a story about her, and she was talking about this humorous story about how when she first bought her camera, she was scared to death that it would explode from all the buttons! I have seen one of those professional cameras up close and I have to say they are pretty intimidating to say the least, I highly doubt she would even start working with something like that! At the moment, Kristi is visiting the islands of Greece located near Kefalonia, but when she returns in March 2009, she will start a new project in which she was asked to join Natures Best Photography. so be sure to look it up!
Brian Kliewer – Painter
This gentleman is also a self-taught artist who currently resides in the state of Maine and began showing his work in his home state in the fall of 1988 at the age of 25! Soon after, collectors were attracted to his paintings and had an entire show dedicated to his work in early 1991. So far, this guy has been quite successful selling his paintings, and after taking a look at them, no it will. you have to wonder why! Over 30 of his paintings have been purchased by former MBNA America so far! Right now he is having something of a challenge, trying to paint and sell 100 paintings in 100 days for $100. His paintings range from birds, famous artists, landscapes, lighthouses, oil paintings, seascapes, winter scenes, and much more.
Really when you see Brian’s art all you can do is stare in awe, they are truly magnificent works of art. I had my eye on a few of these when I first visited his site, and when I was done looking at all he had to offer, he had about 23 paintings! If you like art and you like variations of art, you will definitely want to see this someone very soon.
Beverly Pfab – Chef
I know a lot of people will complain about a Chef being on this list, but if you’ve ever seen this lady cook, you’d add her too! Chef Pfab began cooking when she was just a child in the kitchen with her mother on Sunday mornings after church. She has said that her mother is actually the reason she ever wanted to be a Chef in the first place. I have to say I have a lot of praise and respect for this particular chef, I know how hard it is to work in an alpha male atmosphere as I am a chef myself. But he seems to handle it pretty well, and his passion for food shines through in every dish he prepares.
Recently, Chef Pfab released a cookbook called “My Mother’s Kitchen” in which she mainly introduces readers to some of her favorite dishes that her mother made for her when she was a child, but don’t worry, Chef Pfab has also included some of yours Also creations including the most delicious pumpkin pie I’ve ever seen! You will definitely want to watch out for this person in the future because she will set the world on fire with her culinary specialties, her knowledge of food, and that sheer sense of passion!

Transferring songs from your iPod to your computer can be a bit confusing without the necessary knowledge. In this article, I will give a short and easy step by step guide that will help you to accomplish the task.
Step 1 Using a USB cable, connect your iPod to your computer. If you are using a Windows 8 operating system, the ‘File Explorer’ dialog box appears. If you don’t see the ‘file explorer’ popup, go to the ‘Start Menu’ and click ‘File Explorer’.
Step 2 – In the ‘File Explorer’ dialog, check ‘Devices with removable storage’ and click the ‘iPod icon’.
You will see a screen with a list of folders. In that list, look for ‘iPod_control’; If it’s not available then;
Step 3 – Click ‘View’ at the top of the dialog, then ‘Options’ (a folder options popup appears), click ‘view’ on it, run the ‘advanced settings’ list ‘ and locate ‘Hidden files, folders and drives’.
Step 4: Click the box next to ‘Show hidden files, folders and drives’, then click ‘Apply’ and then ‘OK’.
After this procedure, the ‘ipod_control’ folder will be seen in the dialog containing the folder list above.
Step 5: Right-click on the ‘ipod_control’ folder and open it; this opens a bunch of folders.
It’s music we’re concerned with, so go through the list and locate ‘Music’.
Step 6: Double click on ‘Music’ and a list of other folders will appear. Locate the folder containing the songs of your choice, by clicking on the individual folders you see, eg ‘F06’, ‘F02’, etc.
When you confirm the folder that contains the songs you want to transfer to your computer, right-click on it, scroll down the drop-down menu, and click ‘Copy’.
If you just want to copy the songs anywhere on your computer, go to where you want to store them, right click and ‘Paste’.
However, if you want to store them on your iTunes, then;
Step 7; Open the ‘iTunes’ application on your computer, click ‘Edit’, ‘Preferences’, ‘Advanced’, make a note of the default location where iTunes stores files on your computer.
Step 8: Go to the ‘Start Menu’, click on ‘File Explorer’, ‘Libraries’, ‘Music’, ‘My Music’, ‘iTunes’, ‘iTunes Media’ and on the right side of the page, right-click and ‘ Paste the previously copied file (F06).
Step 9 – Right click on the file you just pasted, go to ‘Properties’ in the dropdown, a dialog appears, uncheck the ‘Hidden’ tab in the attributes section of the dialog, click ‘ Apply’ and ‘OK’ .
Finally: Go back to the ‘iTunes’ app, click ‘File’, ‘Add Folder to Library’, ‘Music’, ‘My Music’, ‘iTunes’, ‘iTunes Media’, ‘F06’ and your music will appear on your iTunes.
This procedure may not work for ‘iPod Touch’; there is another way that would help to transfer music from your ‘iPod Touch’ to your computer. Otherwise it works fine. Go ahead and try it.

The idea that reality evolves through an endless dance of fundamental atomic geometric shapes with an ethical purpose, became the foundation of science in 3rd century BC Greece. Plato’s Academy called it Science for Ethical Purposes. The Epicurean University called it the Science of Universal Love. The movement of the moon, echoing the atomic dance of life, was seen to influence the female cycle. The ethical purpose, in this case, was carried out to explain mothers’ love and compassion for their children, giving sex potentially infinite ethical value.
Greek philosophers argued that religious beliefs were not part of the atomic purpose, and others argued that traditional cultural virtues contributed to the evolution of humanity. A crucial debate at the time was that healthy human development required a scientific understanding of infinity. This understanding was associated with a sexually oriented joie de vivre associated with the eternal atomic dance that creates a desire to love and protect children.
Greek science was invented to save civilization from the process of extinction, recorded in the fossil record. In particular, the term ‘savior’ was applied to the teachers of the Epicurean school. The Roman Government considered this idea as a threat to the stability of their Empire. However, it succumbed to Christian ideology during the 5th century AD. At that time, science was an instrument controlled by religious dogma for the purpose of military conquest instead of reasoning about the infinite ethical purpose of the geometric atomic dance of life.
The mathematical understanding of the dance of life under religious control during the Middle Ages was to ensure that a particular creed developed science to protect itself from military conquest. Sexual selection focused on the physical attributes of the warrior class, echoing the primitive survival mentality of previous life on earth, most of which had gone extinct. The infinite mathematical conjecture was completely banished from all scientific reasoning as a treacherous heresy. Giordano Bruno in 1600 was burned alive by the Christian church in Rome for teaching about it at Oxford University.
The resulting supreme law of science became one of cancerous growth and development towards certain extinction and therefore cannot be considered ethical. The genius of Einstein, who initially agreed with that unethical proposition, provided the solution to this problem. His “we can’t solve problems using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them” meant that science needed to alter its governing logic.
If humanity is to prosper, it must confront modern science’s obsession with humanity’s certain extinction. That will imply a recomprehension of our sexual mentality. The infinite geometric logic involved in the dance of life generates a tinderbox of emotional thoughts and feelings beyond current scientific understanding. With all the best intentions, religious concepts of infinity are of little pragmatic help. This is demonstrated by the current exposure of organized child abuse within the Christian Church and the degrading use of sex associated with acts of Islamic religious terrorism. The complexity and dynamics of sexual reality require a much deeper and more compassionate understanding.
Science is an incredible wonder. However, their use of information and communication devices sparked a 3D dysfunctional global epidemic of false financial expectations that is unethical. The mass manufacturing of such devices is transmitting dysfunctional information. It uses artistic knowledge to generate false social anticipation through the use of geometric mathematics similar to the addiction creation associated with operating poker machines.
Science must give up its obsessive intolerance of research to link human evolutionary survival to infinite fractal logic. In the current cancerous situation, all logic of information and communication obeys only the laws of universal chaos. Restructuring this outdated law will allow crucial relevant scientific research to proceed. In quantum biological neurological cancer research, living information is known to flow in the opposite direction to the quenching chaos energies. It is important to investigate the reasoning that living emotional information, when entangled with the energy of chaos, generates an evolutionary universal consciousness.
The procedure that science could use to solve this problem is simple. It cannot wait for political leaders to come up with persuasive religious ideas about ethical immortality. That would be counterproductive, since it cannot be argued scientifically. Religion and science are still locked in an emotional power struggle that the 17th century philosopher Thomas Hobbes described as one that leads to continuous cycles of destructive conflict throughout the history of evolving civilizations. However, in the name of cancer research, relevant controversial geometric scientific concepts can be programmed into a computer to derive a human survival plan. At present this is impossible because modern science is inherently cancerous and cannot generate such non-cancer futuristic simulations.
Sigmund Freud described this scientific obsession with our extinction in his ‘Beyond the Pleasure Principle’. He described science as the use of inorganic chemistry to force the science of organic life back into an inanimate state. As the father of psychoanalysis, he dedicated his life to freeing the human mind from this emotional dictatorship of the death cult. As an influential Freemason, his attempt echoed the centuries-long battle between the Christian Church and Freemasonry’s naive and failed attempt to free humanity from what he called the principle of destruction espoused by science. The 1948 freemasonry book ‘Freemasonry Its Hidden Meaning’ clearly states that his purpose was to free humanity from the yoke imposed by the Destructive Principle. However, Freud’s condemnation of our death cult to extinction can now be used to help quickly design as an accurate model of human survival.
The simple idea of putting the subject of life’s complex geometric dance into a computer program to derive a model for the evolution of seashells caught on throughout the 20th century. IEEE, the world’s largest technological research institute, reprinted the life force discovery in 1990. However, the application of the ethical logic of third-century science in relation to the cancer-free geometric evolution of growth and development of seashells through space-time is now in violation. of the prevailing logic of the cult of human death. The seashell model of survival was acceptable, but the human model remains an emotional religious and scientific heresy.
Any major religion that perceives that the religion of another culture is using a dysfunctional cancerous methodology to ensure its own survival will try to rectify that situation. Traditional beliefs and customs, based on the emotion of sound and color, fused with dysfunctional geometric logic, akin to the mathematical science of poker machines, can only generate dysfunctional desires to accelerate extreme cultural chaos in an attempt to such rectification.
However, as soon as human survival plane simulations emerge, their first-principle geometric knowledge of the nature of cancerous growth and development can also be used to the benefit of the entire world population. The resulting wealth generated would be greater than the cost of destroying various national infrastructures. The ethical magnification of science will then become part of the universal consciousness, becoming aware of itself in order to shed its past carcinogenic character. As ancient Greek ethical logic argued, science can guide an ennobling government for the health of the universe by becoming part of its healthy growth and development, thus avoiding extinction. That project is now in the hands of scientists and artists who are promoting that idea internationally as an integral part of the 21st century Renaissance, which literally means the revival of ancient Greek ethical science.

What is edema (also spelled edema), anyway?
Well, it’s an observable swelling that comes from a buildup of fluid in the tissues of the body.
And, the edema most often occurs in the feet and legs, where it is known as peripheral edema.
The swelling is the result of the accumulation of excess fluid under the skin in the spaces within the tissues. We already have fluid in there, the interstitial fluid, but this is more than normal.
Other parts of the body, such as the face and hands, may also be affected.
As many of us know, after a long day of shopping (or walking through an art museum, or just standing), swelling or edema around the ankles etc. can occur. And it can happen to anyone.
At night, the fluid tends to drain from the legs, so foot/ankle edema is usually less obvious when you get up in the morning.
But is it serious?
Well, depending on how extreme it is and how long you’ve been there…it could be!
types of edema
Most of us will have experienced edema in our everyday lives.
We will notice that our rings don’t fit well or that our ankles are a bit swollen. And if you’ve had too much alcohol, you’ll see it in the morning, right before your eyes, on that swollen face of yours.
It comes and goes, but if it stays, well, that could mean something different…
There are 2 main types of edema:
- In non-pitting edema, which usually affects the legs or arms, the pressure applied to the skin does not result in a persistent indentation.
Pitting edema can be demonstrated by applying pressure to the swollen area by pressing on the skin with a finger, and a persistent indentation results. That means the skin doesn’t pop back, but the indentation from finger pressure remains, indicating something more serious.
Edema has been described as a result of venous ulceration, which is often caused by an increase in tissue pressure (increased fluid within the tissue) due to increased capillary permeability.
Some causes of edema
Certainly, there can be many causes for edema. Some are fleeting as I mentioned above, while others are much more serious.
If you have edema (or any swelling) and you don’t know the cause, it’s important to see your doctor. You’ll feel better knowing nothing’s wrong…or if there is, you’ll want to know too.
Swelling of the ankles and lower legs may be mild and transient, or it may accompany other conditions, such as obesity, diseased leg veins, kidney disease, cirrhosis of the liver, anemia, and severe malnutrition. It could also be a feature of congestive heart failure.
And there could be other factors that could contribute to its appearance, including:
- Eating a poor diet that is high in salt and carbohydrates.
- Taking birth control pills or hormone replacement therapy
- Pregnancy and premenstrual syndrome
- sodium retention
- Varicose veins and a history of phlebitis.
- Allergic reactions
- neuromuscular disorders
- Trauma
- drugs abuse
Symptoms:
A symptom is when, initially, the feet and legs look swollen as the day progresses, but after a period of time, the swelling starts first thing in the morning and continues to get worse throughout the day.
There is probably a certain amount of edema we can live with when it is found not to be a problem.
However, it can become serious, particularly if the edema is advanced and has been around for a while, it could cause pitting (as mentioned above, when you press on the swollen area for a few seconds, you will notice an indentation in that area that continues long after you finger pressure is removed). Continued swelling can cause skin ulcerations.
Over time, other symptoms may develop as a result of fluid retention and pressure on the tissue and body:
- Hypertension
- Headaches
- pressure on the skin
- increased urination
- palpitations
- Swollen hands and/or wrists
- swelling of the face around the eyes, in the feet, ankles, and legs
- weight gain
Salt intake and edema
Granted, we know that food tastes better with salt and that is why so many products and restaurants load their food with it.
It is usually found in large amounts in processed foods. Even ‘health foods’ can have lots and lots of salt (it’s a shame that salt, sugar and fat are things that make food taste better and are overused in our culture).
Just about anything can be fine in moderation, but we’re overreacting with these foods.
The body’s salt balance is usually well regulated. A normal person can consume relatively small or large amounts of dietary salt (although extremes are best avoided) without worrying about salt depletion or retention.
The amount of salt excreted by the kidneys is regulated by hormonal and physical factors that indicate whether salt retention or elimination by the kidneys is necessary.
If someone has kidney disease that affects kidney function, the ability to excrete salt in the urine is limited.
In some conditions, the amount of salt in the body increases and this can cause a person to retain water and develop edema.
Common Treatments
Over-the-counter diuretics containing ammonium chloride and caffeine (think Aqua-Ban®) are sold with the promise of relieving edema-related symptoms. The most severe edematous conditions require medical attention.
Treatment of edema with prescription drugs is limited to the use of diuretics, commonly known as “water pills.”
Treatment commonly consists of managing the underlying condition, which may include: inadequate nutrition; liver, heart and kidney disease; or obstruction of blood or lymphatic flow. In some cases, a salt-restricted diet may be recommended.
If the edema is localized and is due to strain or trauma, people report having good results with homeopathic products such as ‘Traumeel’ and ‘Topricene’. I have both on hand.
What could help?
- Diet is always key: watch your salt intake and eat plenty of vegetables
- It is always a good idea to watch your salt intake.
- If your legs or ankles are swollen, it is suggested that you elevate your legs above your heart while lying down.
- Exercise your legs. This could help pump fluid from the legs to the heart.
- Some people find it helpful to wear support stockings (sold at most pharmacies and medical supply stores).
- Reflexology could be a great health support – OR NOT – read on…
What can reflexology do?
The fluid that accumulates and becomes edema normally returns to the heart through the lymphatic system.
Unlike the circulatory system, which has a pump (the heart), the lymphatic system depends on the movements of the body to help drain its fluids.
Since there are no tiny pumps on the tips of the fingers and toes, the gentle movements of our reflexology techniques (thumb and fingers) on the extremities support the natural processes of the whole body.
Once again, I remind you that reflexologists do not treat, diagnose or prescribe.
And I’m not even specifically interested in the movement of local fluids. My attention is focused on the whole body, organs and organ systems.
But another “additional benefit” of my reflexology work is the potential to help smooth tides as well.
Be careful though, there may be some endemic conditions that don’t need this or are too weak to benefit.
Yes, that’s right, if the condition goes undiagnosed, or even if it is diagnosed, and it is advanced edema (pitting edema is advanced), you should always check with your doctor first before working.
Because?
Because unless you’re a doctor, you don’t know if it will help or if it will be too fluid motion for an obviously compromised system to handle.
No guessing here, remember, someone who is sick will have a medical team. It is in everyone’s best interest to consult with the medical team. They won’t care or be surprised, it’s what everyone does.
Now, my guess is almost always that reflexology will help.
But, if someone is very sick, it’s the team MD who needs to know and approve any work before you can be sure to proceed. They know the whole story about their patients’ health and will base their recommendations on the big picture.
You and even the person with the edema may not understand or even know the full implications of your condition.
So it’s easier than you thought, and there’s no guesswork, just make the call to let the team know and get approval to proceed with reflexology.
Easy as pie (is that a prairie expression?).
Some swelling is a fairly common sight. In a healthy person, it is not a problem unless it has lasted too long, has impeded movement, or is cause for concern.
And, yes, there are reflexes in the immune system.
Don’t forget the spleen (the largest lymphoid in the body and reflexes to the thymus too, both are important).

We all know that sunspots, solar flares and solar cycles affect life on Earth and scientists are pretty sure that when the Sun is nearly exhausted it will expand, consume the earth and then retreat, everything living on it. the surface of the earth at that moment perishes, while the seas boil and well, you get the idea. Now, what if intelligent beings use their advanced technology to make our Sun go crazy?
Well, this is just part of the plot in one of the best science fiction books I’ve ever read. Based on science and science fiction, this book will excite all its readers, so I highly recommend it. The book is:
“Solar storm” (Book Two of Time Odyssey) by Arthur C Clarke and Stephen Baxter; Random House Publishing Group, Inc.; New York, NY 2005.
We are all familiar with the works of the late Arthur Clarke and anyone who is a fan of science fiction is also familiar with the work of Stephen Baxter in great works such as:
- Multiple: Time
- Multiple: Space
- Multiple: Origin
- phase space
- Evolution
- coalescing
- Jubilant
- Transcendent
- resplendent
- Emperor
- Conqueror
- Weaver
- Browser
- flood
- Ark
- moonseed
- giant
- The H-Bomb Girl
Arthur C Clarke and Stephen Baxter have co-authored several books, including:
- Solar storm
- eye of time
- Firstborn
Arthur C Clarke and Stephen Baxter are two of the greatest science fiction writers of all time and belong alongside names like Isaac Asimov and Gene Roddenbury. I know you’ll enjoy reading this book, as well as the other two they wrote together, and I’m sure we’ll have many more great Stephen Baxter books in the future, as he is such a great writer and thinker.
