Glucosamine is essential for maintaining healthy skin. Large amounts of glucosamine in the blood are required for the production of hyaluronic acid, a substance needed to heal skin wounds and surgical incisions. Studies done on the effectiveness of glucosamine on the skin showed that patients who took glucosamine before undergoing surgery and continued to take it until their incisions healed showed faster healing rates compared to patients who did not take it. Glucosamine is also used to reduce wrinkles and help the skin stay more resilient.
