A few days ago, I was talking to an old colleague in San Francisco, California: he works in the planning department of a prominent ad agency in Lagos and was vacationing in the US for the summer. Naturally, our focus had revolved around current events and trends in the Nigerian media and advertising industry, especially given the country’s under-representation at the recently concluded 57th Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival.

He revealed how his agency was still trying to come to terms with successfully integrating digital offerings into its brand propositions for clients. Marketers did not believe in these “digital recommendations” and had told the agency to stick to what they knew best: strategic implementation that focused on utilizing traditional media channels: television, print, radio, and online media. the store. One client in particular had explained that his position was based on research they had recently done; to measure the impact of digital advertising on consumers, and that only a fraction of the target market in the research survey had reacted to online advertising. The fault was with the agency because they were supposed to act as agents of change for sellers, consumers and the industry and yet they offered outdated digital models and exported platforms and concepts that did not resonate with consumers in the Nigerian market.

They have to understand that in the industrialized world, and presumably in digitally developed countries, agencies and marketers are still trying to gain a foothold in this space. The digital world is constantly evolving and moving at a faster pace than we can to understand digital natives. [the internet generation that grew up surrounded by digital technologies].

What is not Digital

Digital is not about taking a great idea that was successful somewhere and localizing the concept for other brands.

Digital is not about packaging a cool concept wrapped up in product ideas to sell to customers. [no smart client will go for that nor will it have any meaningful impact for their brands]

Digital is not about developing an online presence, a Facebook campaign, or a Twitter app, and hoping that consumers will love your brand because you’ve tried to inhabit their space.

Digital is not about websites or developing cool slogans and images on moving media platforms.

Digital is not about setting up a unit with planners, calling them “digital strategists” and expecting them to come up with “digital ideas” for brands.

What is digital then? What does digital planning entail?

I don’t claim to know all the answers, as I am still studying the cultural insights, digital planning models, and brand engagement tools that have been used successfully by digital natives over the last five years. However, I know that digital must combine the following:

User information, design thinking, entertainment, information architecture [IA]social chat, content strategy, user experience [UX]mobile and data analytics, media and connection planning, and innovative use of offline channels

Bottom line: Digital planning is about platform ideas, not channel tactics.

There are plenty of lounges, so there are plenty of places in New York for you to find a nice, comfortable place to sit, drink, and listen to music. NYC caters to partiers of all ages, hosts the widest range of great concerts by world-renowned musicians, and is world famous for the comedy clubs that the world’s most famous comedians call home.

We went on a Friday night looking for a nightclub with a cool vibe and someone recommended Ace of Clubs Nightclub so we hopped in a cab and $40 later we got to Ace of Clubs. When we walked in the door, things didn’t seem like our style. It was a bit noisy and the drinks were a bit pricey. So we went back to our hotel looking for something better.

On the way to the hotel we asked the receptionist for a nightclub recommendation and she told us to check out which I guess is a new nightlife directory which was very easy. We wrote New York City, night club thing, and she showed a lot on the map. So we picked the nearest one which said it had drink specials as we had spent so much on taxis we went down and took a taxi there. When we got there it was EXACTLY as it was pictured on that ploose site (we had seen a couple of video tours so we knew what to expect). We went in and got a table and bought a bottle of gray goose and had a great time. It was called “El Elefante Rosa” (name of the club). We had a great time and went back to our hotel to pass out.

We spent the next day doing tourist stuff, visiting Fifth Avenue, walking around Manhattan, stopping at a couple of random restaurants for lunch and by nightfall we were exhausted. We decided we needed something a little more low key so we checked out ploose again and found a cool little lounge nearby and decided to check it out. It was called the Sapphire Lounge. It had a very classic decoration, like a party in your living room. The red curtains turned out great! There was a modern DJ playing house music and the prices were very reasonable. We highly recommend it.

Sunday came and we wanted to watch the football game, so we went to a nearby sports bar. We found Proof NYC and let me tell you I was SO glad we went there. He had a HUGE TV and I’m talking like 8 feet long, this TV was no joke. The bar had wooden floors and scarlet walls. That day they also had great beer deals so we were lucky. We ordered some food and had our drinks enjoying our last day in New York City.

Before leaving the city for good, we had time to stop by a jazz bar called “Blue Note”. It was one of the best jazz bars I have ever been to in the world and for any jazz fan, I highly recommend it. It was half or more full but not too crowded, beautifully decorated and the featured musicians blew us away!

In short, New York City has a VERY wide selection of entertainment options to offer. Next time we go we will check out the Opera House and Broadway and give you our recommendations there.

Work hard, party harder, and get home safe and sound.

I had never heard of a Bavarian Mountain Hound before my partner, Anton, broached the topic of getting one. We already had two black Labs, a terrier, and two cats. As far as I was concerned, our animal family was complete.

All of our animals worked. The two farmers worked with Anton during bird season to retrieve pheasants, woodcocks, snipes and ducks. The terrier would catch any rats around our farm and the cats would catch mice and leave their headless carcasses on our front step. Anton, however, felt that there was room for one more animal in our herd; a Bavarian Mountain Hound to help him track down live and injured deer during deer season. Similar to a Beagle in size but reddish-brown in color with a black face, it has a short coat and weighs about 70 pounds when fully grown. Hunters use this breed when tracking deer to shoot or when wounding a deer but still able to run. They are bred to track deer through the mountains of Bavaria and can track an injured deer for miles.

I had a hard time persuading. The animals we already had were expensive and very hard, yet rewarding, work. Bavarian Mountain Dogs are relatively new to Ireland so it was difficult to find other people to ask questions about the breed. I researched everything I could online and while I didn’t find anything objectionable about them, they still didn’t sell me. Because they are a rare breed in Ireland, we knew that if we wanted one, we would have to be on a waiting list. Anton made some preliminary calls and, to his disappointment, he discovered that there were only a handful of breeders in Ireland and that all of his puppies were booked for that year. I was relieved because it meant I had more time to make sure this was the race for us. I had some specific concerns about the race. First of all, we live in a rural community and had read that they were not reliable without lead if they picked up an odor. We let our dogs run free around our house often and I was afraid a Bavarian Mountain Hound would run too far or worse, chase the neighboring sheep.

We get on with our lives and put the dog out of our minds. A few weeks passed when a breeder from Northern Ireland contacted Anton. He had been disappointed by someone who had booked a male puppy and he wanted to know if we would be interested. We talked about it for a few days and Anton had long talks with the breeder and we finally decided to give it a try. The puppy was eight weeks old when we decided we wanted him. The breeder recommended that we name him now and collect him when he was sixteen weeks old, that way I could do preliminary training with him. He also invited Anton for a day to do some hunting so he could watch his mother and father work. We were both happy with this arrangement and decided to call our newest addition Riley.

A few weeks later, Anton made the long trip to Northern Ireland to pick up Riley. He met his mother Heidi and his father Alfie and spent time with the breeder learning about our new pet. When they got home, I met Riley at the door and fell in love instantly. Lanky and shy at first, he followed me into the living room and climbed onto my lap.

Riley was definitely not what he expected the breed to be. All the research he did before bringing him home was helpful, but he had a lot more to learn. He was adorable, like all puppies, with his big dark face and long clumsy legs. We kept him by our side for the first few days as we had with all of our puppies. Unlike our other pups, Riley was very calm and not prone to the random outbursts of emotion that we had experienced with Labradors and terriers. He loved our company and, unlike the crazy Beagle-type dog he expected, he was lazy and loved lounging by the fire. At night he went to his pen in our shed with the other dogs and didn’t cry or bark. He was a far cry from the separation anxiety all of our other dogs had experienced and, in short, he couldn’t believe our luck.

Our first insight into the negative traits of the breed was a few days after we brought Riley home. He was so calm and didn’t seem anxious about being in the pen at night, so we didn’t think to leave him alone in our living room while we went shopping. We drew our curtains so the cats couldn’t bother him at the window and set off on our short trip. This was a big mistake. When we got back home, I immediately noticed that the curtains were now open. On closer inspection, they were not open. They had been cut in half. Yes, our wonderful, calm and placid puppy was, in fact, a normal puppy after all.

Riley is almost a year old and the Bavarian Mountain Hound is my favorite breed of dog. He is loyal, intelligent, and a fantastic hunting partner for Anton. They tracked many deer together this season and although he is lazy and loves to lounge by the fire at home, when he hunts he is dedicated and committed and can go for miles. As he demonstrated by destroying my beautiful curtains, he hates being alone and is very destructive when left alone inside for too long. As I write this, he is curled up next to me with his head on my shoulder. He is fiercely loyal and affectionate towards his owners, as is typical of the breed. He gets along with the other dogs, but he definitely sees himself more as a human than a dog and seeks human company over canine. His hunting instinct makes him chase the poor cats if they get in his way, but he is kind and loving with children. He is not a guard dog, where Labradors and terriers will bark at the house if they hear someone outside, he will barely raise his head from the bed.

If you’re considering adding a Bavarian Mountain Hound to your family, there are a few things you should seriously consider. Do you have an interest in hunting? These dogs are scent driven and it is in their nature to hunt. They enjoy tracking over any other form of play and exercise. Do you have a lot of time to spend with the dog on a daily basis? This breed adores their owners and gets very upset when they can’t be with them. Can you commit to loving and caring for a dog for about fourteen years? If you can answer yes to these questions and decide to adopt a Bavarian Mountain Hound, you will find yourself a loyal and loving companion for years to come. If you’re like me, you tend to ignore all those “Google ads”. Why? I don’t know. It just seems to me that when I’m online looking to make a purchase, I’m looking for a deal. What to feed wild birds

These are just a few of the ingredients you can use to make the perfect winter snack for your feathered friends. I use all of these and usually all at once, but the choice is yours, use whatever you have lying around. Another tip is to store things throughout the year. Seeds and nuts will keep, just like muesli and oatmeal, as long as they’re kept in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. These ingredients alone would be guaranteed to attract wild birds in winter.

Save for a winter day

I also keep the net you buy fruits and vegetables in at the supermarket solely for this purpose, just make sure the holes in the net aren’t too small or large. To put them on the tree I use an old coat hanger that is bent at both ends. Simply thread one end through the net and then the other end hooks onto a tree branch.

1. Are you thinking about what you “must do” instead of what you “will accomplish”.

The fixed negative mindset underlies your inability to change. See your features as fixed and unalterable. You’ve heard people (perhaps yourself) say something like “I’m a pessimist, I can’t help it.” Well guess what, you can! Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck says that by developing a growth mindset — the belief that your traits can be changed through deliberate practice — you set yourself up for success.

2: Learn to listen to your fixed mindset “internal dialogue.”

When you decide to tackle a new challenge, what is your internal dialogue? You might say, “Are you sure you can do it?” or “What if you fail?” “What will you do if you fail?”
If you hit a roadblock, you might hear, “If only I had talent” or “I told you it was too risky.” Because I?

Every life and business coach knows about the inner dialogue spoiler. It’s the internal dialogue that undermines much of what we do; the inner critic who judges you and your work.

The internal spoiler of the internal dialogue is the ‘fixed mindset’.

Once you know you have a fixed mindset, you can anticipate the internal dialogue spoiler in advance. Then just listen to it. If you hear your spoiler talking to yourself, you can say “Cancel.” “Stop.”

Facing criticism:

Fixed Negative Mindset: “It’s not my fault. It was something or someone else’s fault.”

Growth mindset: “When I take responsibility, I can fix it. Let me listen, however painful, and learn what I can.”

Writing dialogue in a journal is very effective. There is something about writing that makes it easier to connect with your inner voice.

In addition, it provides a record of the conversation. You can then review the dialogue and identify common patterns.

5: Take the growth mindset action.
Once you listen to negative fixed mindset self-talk and respond with growth mindset self-talk, then you will determine how to take the necessary steps that will lead to growth.

This could include taking on a new challenge, learning from setbacks, persisting without exception, adjusting your actions based on feedback, etc.

No matter what challenges you face: relationship problems, lack of money, unfulfilling job, health issues…

Your success or failure lies in your beliefs and thinking.

Some people have a mindset that keeps them trapped by their self-perceived or indoctrinated and conditioned limitations.

Other people have a mindset that helps them skillfully meet challenges and shake off setbacks or failures.

Einstein reminds us that if a clear and easy solution to any problem you are facing is not apparent, you need to change the frequency of your thinking.

In the final analysis, by adopting a growth mindset, the opportunities for more learning and success will be more visible, available, and ultimately more rewarding.
