Amea game review

Amea is a free action adventure game. It looks a lot like the old Ghosts’ n Goblin game as it is fully rendered in 2D and you can only move from left to right or vice versa. The fact that Amea is a free game on the Internet does not necessarily mean that it is a game without high quality production values. I was surprised to see that Amea looks and plays very much like many platform games available on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade.

From the moment you start playing Amea, you can think of the game as a happy kind of game. Amea (the main protagonist) is walking through a pleasant jungle environment along with quiet music. Players will suffer a wild shock when Amea finally wakes up. The peaceful place he wandered around was nothing more than a dream when he wakes up in a dark room along with another character named Garrick.

That’s when you know Amea won’t be the kind of happy game you thought it would be. Garrick explains to Amea that he doesn’t remember what happened either, as both characters have amnesia and don’t know how they got trapped in this mysterious room in the first place. Garrick decides to go to town to explore more survivors while Amea is left alone to fend for herself.

This is where your adventure begins as you have to find out how Amea got into this mess and why there are all these zombies and other nasty enemies killing people. The first thing players will notice while playing Amea is the high production values mentioned above that this game has to offer. With many free games, they feel inexpensive as they may lack music, deep gameplay, and voiceovers. I’m happy to report that Amea has everything you could want in a great, high-quality video game.

This game not only has great music and sound, but it also features classy voice acting. Amea’s voice perfectly fits the role of a girl who is scared, but mentally difficult to fight her way out of this mess. At the beginning of the game, the man who voices the “mysterious voice” also does an excellent job with his character.

Graphically, the 2D image style fits very well with the mood and tone of the game. Since this is a dark and mysterious place that Amea is trapped in, the black shadows and scary-looking bad guys fit in well with the atmosphere of horror that this game tries to achieve. He is excellently successful at doing this, as he is far from the bright and delicious place Amea was dreaming of at the beginning of the game.

In terms of gameplay, Amea has a lot of tricks up her sleeve that will make other free games seem inferior in comparison. Not only can he jump, but he can also make an evasive roll. The many zombies that she will face in the game arrive quickly and there are many of them that will all come at once to attack her. He has a nifty sword and shield combination that can easily take them out. It’s great to see the developer animating a full sword combo for her to run. Normally, only one sword attack sequence is animated in such games as Ghosts’ n Goblins. Fortunately, this is not the case, as he can attack and defend like Link in Ocarina of Time. He can even run and jump executing a very deadly sword attack!

Although this is a classic side-scrolling action game, there are many paths you can take that make Amea more than just a left-to-right type of linear game. There are many doors and paths you can take and you also have to find items to open doors to the next area. If you ever played the old Castlevania games in the 80s and 90s, you will know exactly the type of game that Amea offers.

If there’s something annoying about Amea, it’s that enemies respawn even after you’ve killed them. I guess the developer wanted the player to realize that zombies never disappear and will keep reappearing as they are already dead and can never “die” permanently. Still, I felt like it was an annoying feature, especially when you’re lost and trying to figure out what to do next …

Another feature that is a bit frustrating is that the health packs are not that useful in the game. Although they are fairly easy to obtain, a health pack only recovers a small fraction of your health. If you want to regain full health, you are expected to use at least three or four health packs. Difficulty can also be too difficult for beginners as enemies get tougher as you progress as they will also have armor and shields …

Even though some aspects of Amea are quite difficult, it is far from a disappointing game. Amea has an engaging story, high production values, and fun gameplay. Above all, it is absolutely free. If you are looking to play a quality video game in any format and genre, look no further than Amea. It is a game that many players should have fun, very entertaining to play.
